As we all stood in the dark tunnel, I could feel a hand in mine and I immediately knew that it was Thomas. Our fingers were intertwined as the sound of heavy breathes could be heard, all of us huddled together in the small tunnel.

A light suddenly erupted in the dark tunnel, making me look over, seeing my sister opening a door. She walks out, all of us following right behind her, finding ourselves in a long hallway. Just then, the lights all began to turn on, starting from one end and going to the other.

We all glance at one another, sharing curious looks before heading one way, Thomas and I leading the way hand in hand. The occasional sound of whirring could be heard as we walked, soon stopping in front of a door with a sign that said 'exit' at the top.

"Seriously?" Frypan complains.

Neither of us said anything as Thomas stepped forward, opening up the door, his hand still in mine. We ventured further into the room, seeing many lifeless bodies laying around the room that seemed to be a lab. As we got further inside, we dispersed, my hand leaving Thomas'.

I wasn't listening to whatever anyone else was saying as I stopped a one of the desks, looking down at the buttons. Slowly, I lifted my head up, seeing my sister staring right at me from the other side. I look to her left, meeting Thomas' brown eyes.

Just like my memories.

Looking away from him, my eyes cast down at the buttons again, a red flashing button catching my attention. With shaky hands, I press it, wondering what was to come of it.

"Hello." A robotic-like voice speaks.

Looking over to the sound, my eyes land on a screen of a blonde woman in the middle of the room. The same woman from my memories. Her blonde hair was up in a bun, her clothing all white. Curiously, I walked forwards to the screen, everyone else following me.

"My name is Doctor Ava Paige. I'm Director of Operations of the World Catastrophe Killzone Department. If you're watching this, that means you've successfully completed the Maze Trials. I wish I could be there in person to congratulate you... but circumstances seem to have prevented it. I'm sure by now, you must all be very confused... angry... frightened. I can only assure you, that everything that's happened to you... everything we've done to you... it was all done for a reason. You won't remember... but the sun has scorched our world. Billions of lives lost to fire... famine... suffering on a global scale. The fallout was unimaginable. What came after was worse. We called it the Flare. A deadly virus that attacks the brain. It is violent... unpredictable... incurable. Or so we thought." Ava Paige explains.

As she was talking, videos of large amounts of fire showed, the ground being sand. When she began to explain the virus, the Flare they called it, a video of a man was shown. Anger was in his features as he was tied to a metal table, veins crawling all over his body.

"In time, a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly, there was a reason to hope for a cure." Ava continues. "But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed inside harsh environments where their brain activity could be studied. All in an effort to understand what makes them different... what makes you different. You may not realize it... but you're very important."

While she continued, I watched as the many doctors behind her started running around the labs, men in suits showing up from a pair of doors and shooting at them. Ava Paige didn't seem to notice this as she continued to stare at the camera.

"Unfortunately, your trials have only just begun. As you'll no doubt soon discover, not everyone agrees with our methods. Progress is slow, people are scared. It may be too late for us... for me... but not for you. The outside world awaits. Remember..." Ava begins, digging into her pocket and soon pointing a gun to her head. "...Wicked is good."
