First steps?

A few months have passed quite uneventfully. Nev came once during that time and we enjoyed talking to each other. Even though our parents are with us, it gets quite boring. Being a baby is hard, with no one to understand you and nothing to do other than staying where you were placed. You can't even communicate your discomfort over something, be it a dish, clothes or when you have to sleep. The latter isn't too troublesome, since sleeping is pretty much all there is to do but when it is leaving something good, like talking to Nev or Siri, it can be quite a bother.

I think I understand why babies try to do everything they can and go everywhere they see when they are toddlers. They do it not only out of curiosity, but out of the need for freedom, having been restricted from doing so for so long.

I myself can feel this eagerness  now. I might not know much about babies, but I've heard the adults talking excitedly about me taking my first steps soon. Words cannot explain the joy of me knowing I can finally start walking soon.

I no longer have to drink from the bottle, since yesterday mom started feeding me soft baby food and while I don't think I will ever get used to the texture, it still surpasses the bottle. I have also began creeping a few weeks ago, and that is what lead to the exited talks of me walking. I no longer fall on my face while creeping, so I think I will try to walk sometime today. Hopefully I succeed soon.

I heard mom calling me from the kitchen and I am beginning to get hungry, so that is my cue to go quickly. I crawled into the kitchen hurriedly, only to be scooped up as soon as I entered. I wrapped my little arms around the bearer of the all so familiar scent of my now favourite flower.

I was placed in my chair, one which was levitating a few inches off the ground. After being secured in place with a wandless, wordless spell, mom sat down infront of me with a jar of baby food. The first bite assulted my taste buds with the strong taste of apple. I have to say, of all the flavors, this was my favourite.

After eating my fill, I was removed and placed on the floor outside the kitchen to crawl back and play in the living room. A few moments later, I was joined by Lily and so, I decided to try standing up. I know she would have wanted to capture this moment, so I went up to her to get her attention then gave it my best shot.

She saw me trying to get up, so she came and helped me. With her aid, I was standing in no time. She was smiling a lot and it just motivated me to try taking a hesitant step forward. I managed, and she did not try to interrupt me. I tried one more, and then another and before I knew it, I was walking.

I got a bit too excited too fast, and then I realized that the floor was getting too close to my face. I braced for the impact which never came, since I was lifted up and thrown into the air. Lily caught me back and her eyes were filled with tears of joy. I could tell since her face was alight from happiness.

She placed me down and supported me until I could walk properly. It only took about half an hour to learn to walk without falling over. Just as I was about to walk the distance from the chair to mom, the fireplace lit up and James came rushing out looking very disheveled.
