Chapter 7
"I'm not sure about this. "I say clutching to him as we flew over this city to the location of the carnival.
''If we go back now. Marius will never let you go.'' Lestat said in my ear as we flew.

The lovely scent of buttered popcorn and cotton candy mingled in the air, creating excitement in me. I was actually going somewhere fun. I buttoned up my jacket as Lestat and I headed toward the boardwalk. It was just pulsing with life, lit up with games and food boosts and festival fair rides as far as I could see. I looked over as Lestat eyes scan the crowd like a beast looking for his next meal.
''Raina, go and enjoy the rides and games, ''he said handing me a lot of money. ''I must hunt an unexpecting criminal among these mortals. ''
The melody of songs filled the airways as I followed Lestat the best I could. The moon hung low in the distance with a mist slithering around it like a ghost, giving it an otherworldly impression.
''Be back, Princess, '' Lestat called back.
I scanned the area and spotted the Ferris wheel at the end of the boardwalk.
There! I always wondered what it would be like. I walked on desperate to get to the object of my childhood dreams. I took my place at the end of the line and peered up at the massive roulette. Each of the carriage is illuminated in bright neon colors, dangling weightlessly above us. My whole body felt thrills and chills. it was just like flying with Lestat. My stomach dropped in a good way. But as I looked around, I spotted a sign saying, four tickets.
''Shoot, I need some tickets to get on. ''
So, I got out of the line of the Ferris wheel and headed for the zone with a large sign flashing TICKETS FOR SALE. I lined up and anticipated a little wait, but I knew it wouldn't be long. The line moved again, quicker now, and within a couple of minutes I was there buying the tickets and I made my way back in line to the Ferris wheel. The line was shorter now and I had only a little longer to wait than I first perceived. I took a moment to glance about and a sudden movement at operation station caught my eye. A young man with dark blonde hair and a really bad complexion wasn't alone anymore. There was a cloaked man bent towards the young man almost covering him completely in shadow. He whispered something privately into his ear and the operator swayed slightly and looked as if he was looking far away in like a trancelike state. Something about it was so unnatural. Before I could think any more about the scene before me a startling cold hand slipped into mine.
''Hello their Princess. '' the man next to me smiled at me. "I am Armand.''
All dressed in black with a black cloak stood a pale faced handsome vampire. His long black hair flowed to his mid back. His eyes equally dark bored intently into mine. The accent clearly French.
He helped me on to the ride and I slid over for him to join me. It was interesting to see another vampire here of all places. The ride moved with a jerk slowly as we climbed higher and higher.
"So, you like rides and stuff." I say to start up the conversation.
"And stuff," he responded with a charming smile.
I took what he said funny so I gave him a nervous laugh. Something about him could make a girl feel intimated, he was so out of my league.
"Your laugh is as pretty as crystal bells ringing," he said as he traced a finger over my knuckles softly.
As the Ferris wheel turned I saw a whole new vision of the fair. People walked to and from booth to booth. The lights, oh so many different colors danced before my eyes as we turned. The perspective was spectacular. And the sensation of his gentle caress set me ablaze with sudden desire.
