Chapter eleven,

''We must go, '' Lestat said in a rush.

''What, why? '' I started to say but was cut off as Lestat picked me up and ran out of there like a bat out of hell.

We didn't stop until we flew up to his Manor. I was placed on my feet as soon as we landed in his front yard. The gardens were fresh and alive with color even in the darkness it looked enchanting all silvery moonlight. Lestat grabbed me suddenly by the hand and walked me to the bench.

''Sit down, ''he ordered.

A command which startled me. His tone crushed my ideal moment of our reunion. I flopped down on the stone bench and watched Lestat at pace in front of me. He ran his hand through his brown curly locks in obvious nervousness. I couldn't imagine what could be so disturbing at a time like this. He should be overjoyed. Then just as I was about to argue with him about the very subject a long shadow formed coming from the inside of the manor's open door and there was Marius walking towards us. Dammit!

I looked up at Lestat, who was standing by me, staring at me utter silence. His arms were crossed over his chest and his eyebrows pulled together in disappointment. What? And Marius looked at me the same and it remind me of the last look he gave me when he found me. I threw frustrated look at Lestat.

''You told him to come? '' The sting of betrayal made my heart splinter.

''Marius had to know, '' he answered Mechanically. ''He is your keeper and I care about you. ''

The fact that he did not have a fraction of remorse floored me.

''I love you Lestat why? ''

''It's not about that it's about your safety. '' Lestat said.

''Well, done my son, but is it too late? ''Marius said cryptically as he tilted his head to the side as if he heard something I could not.

''OK guys I get it I feel horrible about this. Go ahead tell me how reckless I have been. I'm already aware of it. '' I say raising my hand ready to take whatever punishment Marius dished out.

''You feel horrible? ''Marius repeated the way he said it made a sound like he was insulting me, mocking me with his own words.

''Look I shouldn't have just taken off like that. I admit that, but Lestat will keep me safe. ''

''This is so much bigger than a childish act of running away from home. '' The severity of his tone made me falter.

He shook his head at me as though I was clueless. ''They're coming for you. Raina, and they are not going to stop until they get what they want. ''

''What? Who? ''

''Raina, this is not just about you it's about all of us. Don't you understand, child? When you went to the vampire bar you let them smell your blood.''

Lestat's eyes immediately snapped to mine for confirmation, but I could not match it fully. Tears began to threaten to fall.

''You need to be less concerned about what I know and be concerned about the Vampire Order. ''Marius said to get my attention.

''The Who? ''I asked.

''They know about you, Raina, ''answered Lestat, his expression somber. ''They know everything. ''

I held my composure this wasn't a time for panic. I couldn't afford it.

''So, what. What difference does it make? Besides, I know you Marius, you will take me back and everything will go back to normal.''

''No Raina. It will not. They know not just who you are but what you are. '' Marius said pressing the bridge of his nose as if he had a headache. '' They all do, and you put something in motion that cannot be undone.''

Lestat nodded his agreement. ''There is more than power they crave. It's your blood that is a kind of elixir to walk in the sunlight and protect us from all harm.''

''What? ''

''Yes Raina, ''said Lestat, looking at me like I was a little child that didn't understand grown up stuff. I was thousands of years old, how dare he. ''There's nothing on earth other than you that can do all that. It practically makes an immortal, eternal. ''

''Yes, and it's all in your blood, Raina.'' Marius added.

An array of emotion flickered across Lestat's eyes, confusion, concern, love and the horror that I couldn't place, and .it prompt my heart to drop. He does care and I screwed everything up.

''I think I'm going to be sick. ''

I leant forward and put my head in my hands to stop the world spinning and screwing up my life. My head was whirling so far out of control I could not hardly sit up straight.

''How much time do you figure she needs? '' Lestat asks.

''An hour? Maybe two? '' Marius said.

Crap!

The ancient orders coming to destroy you. ''Marius said sadly.
