Worlds Collide

Chapter Eight: The Monitor

She wanted to leave and go see who the hell was there, but she didn't want to wake up David. She was afraid of the outcome on both terms, but eventually she came to the decision to separate her mind and body. Her eyes glowed purple once more, and she exited her body. She looked at it and it looked at her back. She nodded, telling it to keep still and to not move hardly. It nodded to her and obeyed to what she said. Diana's eyes continued to glow purple, but her bodies eyes turned blue again.  Her body stayed while she left and went to see who was there.

  It was dark in the house, but she didn't mind. She grabbed a knife and hid it behind her back from whoever it was that was there. She crept out very silently and lurked in the shadows. She checked her bathrooms, nothing was there. She checked her kitchen, nothing. She kept doing this until she realized her basement was slightly opened. She kept the knife close, and slipped her hair back into a jet black pixie. Diana walked down the steps with her knife in hand, just about ready to stab whoever was there.

  When she got to the last step, she found nothing but darkness. She knew someone was there, and she wasn't gonna let them get away. She walked slowly to the center with the knife out, and she turned on the switch, only to find nothing. Nothing, until the light flickered on and off. When that happened, a figure showed up out of nowhere. The figure was covered in robotic armor head to toe, except for his face. "Oh... you..." she said. "Hello Diana..." the figure said. He called himself the Monitor, but he was called Mar Novu. Diana had anger overcome her soul.

"What do you want?"
 
"I came here to talk to you."

"There's no point, what's there to talk about?"

"Plenty madam."

"Yeah right. The last time I saw you, you didn't just 'talk', you killed half of my people and destroyed everything. I'm not gonna let you do it again. Especially to the people I love."

"You know that's not what I want. "

"Oh really? Because if you do-"

"Even if I did, there wouldn't be any people here you love."

"You're wrong..."

"Am I? It's only your boyfriend you have ever cared about truly."

"He's not- he is not my boyfriend or husband!"

"But you love him as if he was..."

"I don't! He is nothing more to me than a friend, maybe a brother but that's it."

"Deny all you want Diana, but you can't escape your feelings nor the future of you both."

"What future? "

"There is a crisis on it's way. And you can't escape it. Millions will die. I've come here to tell you, you need to become your true self. You must save the world."

"My true self? What are you talking about?"

"You know very well. To save you, to save everyone, to save David."

"You lay a damn hand on him, I will fucking cut you into pieces. "

"I'm not the one to fear. I get your upset you can't go home and have to hide, but I have a future for you."

"I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about him cause he already has it hard enough but you trying to murder him won't go by me! I will fucking kill you in order to protect him."

"You do love him, and you want him to be yours."

"Even if I did, which I don't, he doesn't see me that way. Just the way he looks at me tells me that he doesn't love me like that. Fuck off, damn it!"
