The last couple of days of their fun came to end as the weekend rolled around, Logan is coming home today which means Remus was heading home as well. While Janus felt excited about his caregiver and boyfriend returning, he has had a lot of fun these last few days. He and Remus played games, went to the mall, watched movies. Little Janus could get away with so many rules with Remus! He could drink as much soda as he wanted, eat as much junk as he wanted, and he could stay up as long as he wanted! It had been a lot of fun.
"I don't want you to leave," Grumbles Janus as he helps fold Remus's clothes, fitting them into his backpack, when he arrived, clothes were sticking out the sides and it looked ready to burst. Remus can't fold for the life of him, and Janus isn't nearly as neat as Logan, but he can do a decent job.
Janus misses their teenage days, the days where they went out partying together and would tear up lawns and throw eggs at people's windows. However, he enjoys their days together where they hang out, binge-watching horror movies and Disney movies with little Janus. He couldn't ask for a better friend honestly, Remus has always been there for him.
"I don't wanna leave either, I'll probably hide somewhere when Virgil gets here," Remus explains with a snort, laying flat on the bed, tilting his head back to stare at Janus.
"Speaking of, you're sure he doesn't mind driving here?" Janus questions, raising an eyebrow. "I know Virgil doesn't like driving, it makes him anxious. I would be happy to
"Relax Double Dee," Remus says with a chuckle. "He doesn't mind."Janus bites his lip and nods, zipping up the backpack, moving it out of the way before laying next to Remus, sighing heavily. He loves his brother, but his heart clenches whenever he has to see him now, he felt guilty, their relationship is still as tense as ever, but he tries to be optimistic, at least they're on speaking terms.
"Hey Jan?" Remus speaks up, turning his body over, resting his elbow on the crumpled sheets.
"Yeah?"
"What happened with you and Vee?"
Janus tensed at the question, pulling his lips into a thin line, glancing away from the prying gaze that bore into the side of his head. "Why?"
"Well Vee hates you, but why? What happened?"
"I can't tell you," He mumbles.
Remus furrowed his eyebrows together and sat up. "You can't or your won't?"
"I can't," He hisses, sitting up as well, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, hugging himself protectively. He felt as if he was being accused, blamed. He didn't want to feel like a villain anymore.
"You can tell me anything Jan, who am I going to tell? My brother? Ya know we don't talk much ourselves," Remus says, nudging Janus. Remus doesn't understand boundaries, he doesn't understand that some things are just better left unsaid.
"Remus, drop it," Janus demands, his tone harsh as he dug his nails into his arms harshly.
"Why?" Remus urges, sitting next to Janus, who pulls away, standing instead.
"Because it's none of your business Ree!"
"None of my business?! How bad can it be Janus?! We've known each other since we were five!"
"Remus-"
There was a loud knock from the front door and Janus sighed, turning towards his childhood friend, his face scrunched up in anger. "Look, Ree, I'll tell you some other time okay? It's complicated, and I don't want to think about it."
Remus pursed his lips and crossed his arms before standing, grabbing his backpack and swinging it over his shoulder. "Fine."
"Fine?"
"Mmh."
Janus sighs and follows after Remus, unlocking the front door. Virgil glanced up from his phone, raising an eyebrow at the two. "What happened with you two?"
"Nothing," They say in unison.
Virgil didn't seem convinced, however, he didn't push it any longer. "Whatever weirdos, you ready to go Goblin?"
Remus smirked, though, it didn't reach his eyes. "Only if I get Mcdonalds on the way home."
Virgil rolled his eyes. "You have can fries and a milkshake."
"Deal!" Cheers Remus before he glanced over at Janus. His smile shrunk, however, he did pull him into a hug, to which Janus gladly accepted. "I'm here Janus, you can tell me anything," Remus whispers to him before pulling away.
Janus wanted to release all his guilt and shame right there and then, but he refused to crumble. He attempted to stay as composed as possible. He watched Remus walk off to the car, and Virgil went to follow him, but Janus grabbed his sleeve.
The glare he received sent a shiver down his spine so he quickly released his wrist. "Virgil," He begins, biting his lips. He couldn't think of any of the right words to say. He could only hang his head. "I'm sorry."
Virgil slipped his hands into the pockets of his hoodie and rolled his eyes at his apology. "You're always sorry aren't you Janus? You really mean it this time?"
"Virgil-"
"You're sorry?! Well fucking good! You should be you slithering snake!" He snaps, his eyes wide in anger. He took a deep breath to calm down, his shoulders are tense he seems ready to pounce, instead, he merely turns around and begins walking again.
He stops after a few steps, craning his neck around to send an icy scowl towards Janus.
"It's your fault he's dead."
---
Janus swung the bottle, gulping down the burning liquid, his lips pulling into a grimace. Empty bottles of alcohol, mostly red wine, littered his floor. He leaned against the couch, sitting on the ground, drinking his pain away. His head felt foggy and didn't dare stand, surely he would collapse.
He heard the door open, and if he wasn't drunk, he would have panicked. At the moment, he just didn't care.
"Janus! I'm home-" Logan entered the living room, his face falling as he took in the scene, his expression conveying mere disappointment.
"Oh Janus," He says with a sigh, dropping his suitcase. He stalked over to Janus but the intoxicated man slowly lifted his head, his vision shifting in and out of focus.
"Hey Logie Poo," He slurs, his lips quirking up into a smirk as he seemed to be starting next to Logan rather than at him.
"Let's get you to bed," He mumbles, gently lifting Janus by his forearm. Janus stumbled and nearly tripped over his feet, however, Logan's firm grip steadied him. Giving up on Janus walking rather quickly, Logan lifts Janus and holds him bridal style, knocking a few bottles to the side as he made his way to their bedroom. He was quick to change him into a diaper, knowing of his accidents, and kissed his head, stroking his hair.
"Go to sleep Jan."
"M'not tired," He slurs, his eyelids dropping as he spoke. The bed was so comfortable compared to the floor. "M'wanna fuck," He blurts out, giggling immediately after.
Logan rolls his eyes, tucking him in. "No you don't, shush now and go to sleep," He says, sitting with him as he waited for his eyes to fall close.
"Logan, m'didn't know you had a twin," He murmurs, shifting to his side, burying his face into Logan's thigh.
Logan cracks a smile at that one. "My apologies, I must have forgotten to tell you. Their name is Landon."
Janus giggles in response, his body beginning to fall limp. His giggles fell silent after a few short minutes, and Logan was relieved to hear soft snores coming from his lover. Carefully, he slipped out of bed and sighed as he headed into the living room, beginning to pick up the many bottles that littered the floor.
He thought he was doing better, Logan wondered if he wasn't doing enough for him, he'd have to wait until he was sober to figure out what he would do next.
