Quick and short update.
Previously on The Divine Beauty - Apsara ....
"I came to warn you... don't trust anyone here... don't even trust the water that you're drinking, the air that you are breathing...."With that she left the room, leaving behind a confused Apsara.
......Apsara didn't know what Mariam meant. But she just chose to stay quiet ... she wanted to badger her with questions... but she chose to stay quiet.
She wanted to know why Mariam, someone who despised her was , out of all people, advising her and above all, warning her.
But she chose to stay quiet....
Mariam bid farewell to Apsara and went back to Jamila who was waiting for her near the palace gate.
"Who was it that you wanted to see?" Jamila asked.
"I came to know how bad and how good people can be .... the people whom we consider as the most pure and with the cleanest soul might turn out to be the person with a heart where the Devil resides.... but the person whom we despise the most ... might be the purest souls...." Mariam said looking at the distance.
"I cannot quite understand what you're trying to say, Mariam ... you're words contain a deeper meaning these days..." Jamila smiled.
"Situations make a man's words deeper..... "
Mariam smiled helplessly.
"Did you meet the King, Mariam?" Jamila tried to guess.
"No... I met his brother..."
"What happened? Did he say something to you?" She asked.
"No... but he broke something of mine that is difficult to earn and easy to break"
"Oh c'mon Mariam! Don't beat around the bush!" She spoke, quite vexed.
"Don't trust anyone Jamila! You'll regret if you do, just like I am...."
"I guess it's time for me to leave this place... it's better to escape from this hell-hole, Jamila.... it's not safe here... anyone can kill anyone..." She said with watery eyes.
.......
Darkness. Complete darkness surrounded her eyes as she clutched the letter, with shivering hands.
"Aaaargh!" Apsara screamed out a blood curdling screech, that could haunt anyone.
Her veins bulged from her forehead as she wailed reading the letter that she received, horribly late, written by Parineeti, her sister.
Apsara...
I wanted to inform you about the sudden and unbelievable murder of our father by the Lahori army.. we are conducting a week long funeral ceremony, and we expect you to come.... Mother's expecting you...
With love
Parineeti. She tore the letter in tiny bits out of beastly anger. She growled and screamed at her fate. Tearing the silk pillows, causing tufts of cotton and feather to float in the air.
"My Father is dead! He is dead! Dead. Dead. Dead!!" She said beating her forehead while crying.
It was late at night, and it wasn't pleasant to hear the screams of a woman at night... There could be spirits roaming around the place... so everyone decided to stay in their rooms, in spite of hearing a female yell.
