"How can I ever repay you, dear?" He asked.

"You already did," Apsara chuckled.

"I did?"

"You paid me back with your happiness," She said.

"Shall we go to sleep, ma'am?" He smirked.

"Can you help me to blow out the candles?"

"Of course," Zayn agreed.

.......

"Sire," Apsara breathed, resting her head on her spouse's chest.

"Yes,"

"Is there something that you are desperately trying to tell me?" Apsara asked. She could feel her husband's steady heart-beat intensifying as she uttered those words.

What the Lahori King could think of was his past relationships with other women, especially Mariam. A flash of her face, upon facing rejection, came into his racing mind. His stomach clenched in fear.

He knew that his wife was aware of his ways prior to their marriage, but his relation with Mariam was something which was rather very different from the rest.

Zayn tilted his head down to look at his wife's head, placing his sweaty palm over her oiled hair.

"What makes you think that?" Zayn forced a smile to speak normally.

Apsara turned to look at Zayn, "I don't know, Sire," She said.

"Do you have something to say to me?" Zayn asked back.

"Well, you know that I am as clear as a glass," She smiled, leaning forward, her expression turning sadder as she did, making Zayn gulp, "But if you break me, I can prick your heart," She whispered.

"Apsara," He looked at her, in a new-born fear, a fear of millions of secrets being opened.

"I trust you, my faith in you is the foundation of our love... and I have tried to tell myself that I would accept you for who you are now, but I just can't help it," Apsara looked away.

"The past is something that has to be left, one never cares about the footsteps they leave behind when they walk on wet sand, but the walk to the ultimate destination is all that matters,"

"But the footsteps remain eternal, even if we leave, for everyone to see-" Apsara interrupted.

"-but the waves wash it away, don't they?" Zayn smiled, breathing heavily.

"I guess they do," Apsara chuckled, looking down.

"Legacies are what remain eternal," Zayn looked to the ceiling observing the paintings that coloured them.

"And soon my legacy will echo over the land of Peshawar," He added.

"God willing, it will," Apsara pecked her husband's cheek, covering his body with the silk sheets.

.......

"Wake up, Queen Apsara," Apsara opened her eyes to see Jamila.

"The Sun has just risen," She sulked.

"Your Majesty there is a court session taking place in the hall soon, you are requested to attend it,"

"Am I supposed to be seated in the hall?" Apsara asked.

Jamila chuckled, "No, Your Majesty! You are a part of the royal family now, and ladies of the royal family will be seated in a private room where she can hear and see the session, without being seen,"
