He rushed to the man, hugging him, "King Kabir Jamaluddin of Karachi!" Zayn greeted his second- cousin back.

Zayn knew that this visit wouldn't be the same as before. Being reminded that the father of the man standing in front of him was the one who accompanied him to the mosque for Zayn's father's second marriage, worried him. But that did not lessen the delight he had upon seeing his closest relative, Kabir.

"I came to know that there has been a revolution," Kabir chuckled, coming to know of the execution.

"Oh yes, and your father, had an important role in it as well,"

"He did?" Kabir asked, amused.

"We'll discuss that over a cup of tea," Zayn smiled.

.........

"I couldn't believe my ears, when I first heard about the death of the Prince and the exile of the Queen, I'd thought that you would send me a letter, but I was saddened by the fact that the contrary happened," Kabir said, in a tone filled with disappointment, at the Lahori King's doing.

They were seated in the private hall of the palace, with long windows, which let in ample amounts of the afternoon rays into the chamber. Zayn sipped on his spiced tea, with copious amounts of tea-dust to soothe his worries. But no amount of tea-dust could suffice his pulsating heart, which felt hurt on his cousin's allegations, sealed with  a smile.

"Oh my dear brother, the circumstances at that period in Lahore weren't favourable enough to send everyone a letter,"

"Oh I understand, but I still can't believe that your loyal and trusted minister would be thankless and ungrateful enough to safely guard a secret from you, a secret that could have  completely altered your life!"

"It wasn't his fault, Kabir, It was all my actual Mother's doing," Zayn muttered in vexation, thinking of the lady who'd left him in the hold of a witch and his son, a lady who didn't care to take her precious children along with her.

"Now I am assuming that your heart must be saturated in animosity towards her," Kabir began.

"You guessed it right, I loathe her from the bottom of my heart," Zayn looked away.

"I'd thought that, as the son of the true Queen, you would rush to search for her,"

"No!" The King roared. "She doesn't require my attention, I think she must have settled down, made a family of her own, in whatever dungeon she'd traveled to, she might have died!" King Zayn raised his voice while saying the last words.

"But how did my father play a part in this? I can't recollect any moment when he'd mentioned that Um Farhat was your step- mother, and Zafar was King Abdul Shah's illegitimate son!" Kabir cleverly pacified Zayn's anger by changing the topic of discussion.

"Your father was the witness for the marriage held in a local masjid in Karachi, he was aware of my father having an affair," Zayn spoke in a lower voice, trembling at the word 'affair'.

"Then I shall apologize, on his behalf, for the vices and sins he'd done, whose remnants you had to bear," Kabir bowed.

"Whatever happened, has happened, Kabir, there's no point on despoiling our valuable time and energy on what our forefathers'd done, our duty is only to carry on the legacy of their virtues, not sins,"

"I can't believe how much you have changed from the last time I'd met you, brother!" Kabir said, smiling.

"What do you mean?"
