As the sun set we walked around collecting wood for our fire. Chris and Teddy worked to make it while I got the food ready for us to cook. When we were done eating Chris suggested Gordie tell us a story. "Well I don't know..." Gordie says. "Tell us about Sargant Steel and his leather necks!" Teddy perked up. "Well, the one I've been thinkin' of is kinda' different." Gordie then goes on to tell us a story about Lardass Hogan and a pie eating contest. When Gordie told us the part about everyone throwing up we all clap. Everyone liked the ending besides Teddy.

We all layed our sleeping bags on the ground and start to fall asleep. Then we hear an extremely loud howl. Everyone perks up with fear. I instinctively move closer to Teddy because he was the closest to me. "It's the kids ghost!" Teddy shouts. "Don't say that." Vern says his voice shaking. "It's fine, it's just animals." I say to Vern. We agree on us taking turns standing guard with the gun. Teddy goes first. We all try to sleep but Teddy keeps whispering nonsense.

I couldn't fall back asleep so I went over to the tree and sat next to Teddy. Teddy scooted down the tree to sit next to me. "Teddy, what were you gonna tell me earlier at the junkyard?" I ask Teddy. "Well, uhm..." Teddy starts. "Well, I was gonna say how I really like you Brooklyn." Teddy says embarrassed. I start to blush and a huge smile appears on my face that I can't help. "I like you to Teddy." I tell him. We sit in silence for a minute before Teddy grabs my chin to look at me and he places a small kiss on my lips. We pull away and smile at each other. He looks so beautiful with the orange light of the fire on the side of his face. I rest my head on his shoulder and start to sleep.

A few minutes later Teddy was gently shaking me awake. It was Vern's turn to stand guard. I walked with him over to our sleeping bags and fell right back to sleep. I woke up to the rumbling of the train. As soon as everyone was awake we started right back on our trail. Teddy put his arm around me as we walked. The boy's never asked questions about it so I assumed they thought he was just being friendly. We came to the point of the train tracks and a short cut through the woods. "If we go through the wood's it'll save us an hour." Chris says. "I think we should stick to the tracks." Vern says. Everyone takes a vote to go through the woods. Everyone starts running put I stay back with Vern. "Come on Vern, we're almost there." I say to him. We both start running.

We had to walk through a bunch of mud until we reached a river. Chris grabbed a stick and stuck it in. "It's not that deep we can walk across." He says. We start walking and then fall through. I start laughing immediately. The boys start messing around. Teddy and I pushing each other under water. I noticed Gordie walking out of the water not looking so happy. I follow him the three boys continuing there fun. "You ok?" I ask Gordie. He nods his head. I can tell he's not fine but I leave it alone. Eventually the boys make it to the ground. Teddy stands next to me I look up at him and notice something on his neck. "Hey Teddy there's something on your neck." I say. "LEECHES!"

We all start pulling them off of each other now in our underwear. I pulled one last one off of Teddy's back. I notice everyone staring at me. "What?" I say. As soon as I realize I grab random clothes off the ground and put them on. "Oh no Chris." I hear Gordie says. He pulls a huge leech out of his pants and faints. "Is he dead?" Vern asks. "No, he's still breathing." I say. We sit down and wait for Gordie to get back up. The boys start to get dressed and I realize I'm wearing Teddy's shirt. I sit up and start to take it off to give it back to him. "No no it's fine." Teddy says as he pulls the shirt back down on me. I notice Vern and Chris looking at me anticipating for me to take it off. They look away as soon as I notice them. I roll my eyes.

When Gordie woke up we rested a little more and then started walking.
