I had been going to Teddy's house a lot more than I used to. He only lived a few minutes away, practically across the street. We would listen to his records and dance and sing and just have fun. My feelings for him got stronger and stronger every time we hung out.

I knocked on his door and almost immediately he opened it. "Hey Williams." He greeted me with a smile. He put his arm around me and led me inside. We went to his room and I went to the floor and pulled his bin of records closer to me. "Let's see what you've got." I said shuffling through each one. We listened to Elvis a lot but we needed a change. I pulled out a Buddy Holly one and put it on. I flopped on his bed and we started talking. "So what are you gonna do once we're done with school and stuff?" Teddy asked me over the music. "I'm not sure, haven't really thought about it." I tell him. "You have a good shot of being successful, not so much for me." I shot him a look. "Don't say that, you're gonna be an amazing soldier when you're older." I say saluting him. He chuckles and shakes his head. "I hope so, you're smart Brooklyn you can be like a lawyer or something. I'm never gonna get out of this town." He says. "We'll get out together." I say. "I love this song!" I shout before he can say anything else. I start jumping around and dancing, grabbing his hand to dance with me.

I start my walk home after being at Teddy's for a while. Sam and the rest of the cobras were in the front yard. They hung out here a lot because our parents were pretty ok with them being here. As long as they didn't come in the house. I walked past them without saying a word. They had hurt Chris pretty bad last week. I can't believe Eyeball was so ok with hurting his little brother like that. My brother would never allow that to happen to me. When Ace and Eyeball did catch me they never hurt me just tried to scare me.

When the cobras left my brother came inside and we ate dinner. "I don't like those boys Sam." My dad said scooping mashed potatoes onto his plate. "They're ok." Sam said. I tried to keep in my laugh. They were not ok. The room was silent except for the scraping of forks on plates. My mom looked up at me and smiled. "So, what's going on with you and Teddy?" I blushed. "Nothing, we're just really good friends." I say back. "Yeah, you're over there a lot. Hope you guys are staying out of trouble." My dad said with a scowl. He always hated me talking and hanging out with the opposite gender. He was the typical over protective dad. "Of course we aren't dad. He's really nice." I say. My mom smiles at me and the room goes silent again.
