The sun had decided to spare the island of some heat, thus it was not scorching hot today.
Taehyung hummed, a frown forming on his sleepy face, as the waves of sleepiness retreated to the back of his head.
But, he found it difficult to move. It felt like he was caged.
He slowly blinked open his eyes and then did he realise that the reason he woke up was not just because of the daylight. It was because Jeongguk was stirring awake too.
And if not for the way they were entangled like two woollen threads, Taehyung would still be sleeping. However, he could barely complain.
Taehyung looked down at Jeongguk's arm that he hugged like a side pillow, their legs looking like a mesh work and warm breaths that tickled Taehyung's neck made him shiver a little.
"Oh, you're up?" Jeongguk cleared his throat.
Taehyung smiled just a little, turning his head to look back at him. "Yeah, thanks to you."
Jeongguk grinned sheepishly, ruffling his hair, "Sorry about that."
Taehyung attempted to move and the action caused Jeongguk's hand to slip and he jerked downward, gathering himself before his head could smash against Taehyung's.
"Oh." Taehyung gasped, looking up at Jeongguk, who had a mirroring expression of surprise. It was a quick realisation of how close they were. Their bodies were already pressed up, and faces just moments apart.
Their eyes were puffy, and crusty, dried tracks of saliva along the side of their lips.
Taehyung snorted, "You look like trash."
"As if you look any better." Jeongguk grinned, but it soon faltered when Taehyung's laughter died down.
His heart began hammering slowly, then picked its pace, as Jeongguk raised his hand, gently cupping his cheek, before stroking his cheekbone.
Jeongguk smiled again, but there was a gentleness, a seriousness to it this time and Taehyung wondered if he could stop himself from craning his neck and kissing him any further.
"I think we should get up." He blurted out, pushing Jeongguk back and sitting up. The bewilderment immediately changed into a flash of hurt that ran through his eyes and Taehyung felt bad- little if not much.
"Yeah, right." Jeongguk shrugged on his jacket, standing up, getting some paste and walking out of the cabin. Taehyung flinched when the door closed roughly behind him, the poor panel threatening to break at the intensity.
He pouted, looking down at his feet and rubbing his left eye. He did not mean to do it, but he did. It was confusing. Jeongguk confused him. He liked it and did not at the same time- the way he was treating him.
He had not wanted to upset him, given that he was the one basically taking care of him, lighting the fire every night, catching fish, picking fruits and trying to make him feel like he had not left Seoul altogether.
Why did he have to do this? He was not obliged to, was he? It fucked Taehyung up and the idea of cheating on Jongin did not settle so right in his stomach.
However, if this continued, he might just.
Taehyung shook his head and got up. He brushed his teeth, washed his face and attended nature's call.
"Where's that brat?" He mumbled to himself, wandering towards the beach, plopping down against a palm tree. The weather was mild and the sun was hidden behind the clouds.
For now, he would like to apologise to him.
He sighed, resting his head back on the trunk, his eyes fluttering close as he let the calm breeze soothe his tired body.
