You looked at Michael. "That doesn't matter. I still love him, like he is my own child."
The orphanage directed nodded. "Right. Well, I hope you have a good day, and I hope to see you again soon!" She smiled as you and Mark left the building with Michael in your arms.
You didn't let him go, even on the long drive back home, and you watched as Michael dozed off in your arms. You smiled, glad that you finally had a child to call your own.
You felt your eyelids start to droop, and you let your eyes close, letting your body get the much needed sleep after the long day that you and Mark both had.
Mark heard your soft snores and smiled. Michael is the right child to get, and soon, they would get another child. Just so Michael wouldn't be lonely on his own.
The lights on the edge of the road flew past the car as Mark drove past them. In about an hour, they would reach home.
Mark let out a content sigh. He was glad that he agreed to adopting a child. The paperwork though, Mark's eyes narrowed. That would take a while to do.
Adoption paperwork to get it all settled with court would be a pain, all the paperwork so Michael would their last name of L/n. Not that it mattered much though. It would be best to get the second child adopted first, then take care of the paperwork for Michael at the same time.
Kill two birds with one stone, right?
Yes, that would the best option. It would take less time than doing them both separately.
Mark stopped at a red light, and waited for it to go green. He took his time to rub his tired eyes.
He wasn't sure if the court would let them do two children at once, he wasn't even sure if they were going to bother him about doing the paperwork for both children at once.
The light turned green and Mark pushed on the gas, the car slowly going forward. The car speed up as the intersection disappeared behind them.
He sighed. He'll deal with this in the fucking morning. It was too late for his mind to be worrying about what will happened in the future. Mark was starting to get on his last nerve, all because of his thoughts.
No, he needs sleep. Sleep always makes things better.
He pulled into the driveway of their house and parked the car. Mark turned to face you and saw that you were already opening your eyes.
"Hey there darling. We're home." Mark said.
You looked out the window, then at Mark. "It looks like it." You smiled. "I'll put Michael in bed, he needs the sleep."
You got out of the car carefully, Mark quickly going to the door to open it before you could.
"I'll wake up first so I can make a welcome home breakfast for Michael. I'll also do the same for when we get the second child." You said once you stepped inside.
Mark locked the car, the beep of the car locking making him know. He closed the door. "Okay, I'll go to bed now. I'm tired."
"Alright." You said. "See you in the morning."
Mark kissed you, leaving you with a smile on your face when he left to your shared room. You were very happy when you married him, even though your mother objected.
