The galler

Julie ran back to Emille who was out cold. He had lost a lot of blood. She put her hands down on the wound and applied light pressure trying not to Hurt him. The crowd was on their feet cheering Julie on. Suddenly the arena shook. Julie stood back up. The rocks around her where shaking. The crowd went silent.

A small portion of the arena slid away revealing a pit, but nothing emerged.

"Julie?"

She spun around. Emille was awake. She ran back to him.

"What's going on?" He asked confused.

"Stuff, not good stuff thought." She half smiled. Just then there was a loud shriek. Julie turned back and saw a massive bird type creature fly out of the hole. The crowd let out a nervous kind of yell. The bird was huge maybe three times larger then the rhino. It was covered in black and red feathers with a long curved beak. It's talons were long and curved too. It shrieked and began its dive towards Julie.

She again ran away leading the bird away from Emille. The creature quickly caught up to her plunging its talons into her shoulder and lifting her off the ground. She screamed in pain. It let go throwing her into the wall. She landed hard and then toppled to the ground in pain. The creature rose back up and shrieked in victory. It looked to the motionless Emille.

Julie looked to him too. The bird began flying towards him. Julie bolted towards Emille even though the bird had much more speed. She noticed a stone sticking out of the ground. She curved towards the bird, jumped off the rock swinging her arms. It was like everything was in slow motion. The bird extended its talons, the crowd was on the edge of their seats. Julie landed and grabbed on to the bird. The bird dropped a meter ad turned away in anger. Julie slung herself up onto its back. She grabbed on to a clump of its feathers and tried to steer it. The crowd stood up screaming and yelling for this was something that never happened.

"I said release the galler!" Briston said watching the arena out a window.

"Everyone's lives are at stake if we do release it." The man tried.

"Did the bird or rhino stop them!" Briston turned around.

"Release the galler now or ill throw you in that arena with them!" Briston replied.

Julie steered the bird to the ground and jumped off of it. It flew away back into its hole in fear. Another cage began opening.

"Emille c'mon you have to fight." Julie needed him. Emille looked at the sun dried blood on his chest then to the gleaming nails stuck in. He grabbed on to on and tore it out. He sneered in pain and quickly did the same to the other. The bleeding had stopped. He was slow to his feet. The crowd roared in encouragement.

"What's in the cage?" Emille looked to the open gate.

"I don't know." Julie replied. She stretched an arm back and felt her shoulder blades. It stung from the birds talons but wasn't major.

"Where are we?" Emille changed topics.

"It's coming!" Julie ran. Emille was confused. He looked to the cage. A grey hump stuck out of the sand and was flying towards him. He ran too.

He stopped beside Julie as the hump disappeared in the sand.

"It's swimming in the dirt." Emille looked around unsure of where it was. He spotted it coming towards him. He shoved Julie out of the way and ran. Then the creature jumped out of the dirt revealing its full body. It was a massive scorpion.

"Run." Julie said.

The Scorpion was huge bigger then the bird. It was grey and had the odd yellow splotch. Its tail curved up over its back and had a pointed stinger nearly a door long. The crowd let out a panicked yell.

"Galler!" Someone yelled out. Instantly the crowd began screaming and trampling each other over running for the exits. The scorpion turned and dug its pincers into the wall climbing up. Its tail made a snapping noise as it flew over the ledge picking up a man from the crowd and throwing him into the arena.

"What's going on?" Emille eased up a bit. "We need to go." Julie said.

The galler climbed into the stands grabbing people and eating or throwing them. It shrieked and people screamed.

"The gate." Emille said. He looked to the gate where it had come from and noticed it was open.

"C'mon!" He grabbed Julie's hand pulling her along with him.

"Shut the gate!" Briston said standing up. The man hurried across the room pushing buttons and pulling levers.

The gate rumbled and began its slow descent to closing. Emille picked up the speed and slid under the gate into safety. Julie did the same just as the gate closed. They watched as the galler continued its brutal killing spree.

"There has to be a way out." Julie exclaimed as she began walking down the dark hall.

"So where are we?" Emille asked. "Earth?" Julie replied.

"No that's impossible, we watched it get destroyed." Emille paused and thought. At least he thought he did.

"You worthless waste of space!!" Briston exclaimed as he pulled out a long curved blade.

"Sorry sir." The man hung his head low.

"This'll teach you!" He sliced diagonally across his chest. The man fell to his knees as blood spilled out. Briston sliced the opposite way forming an X on the mans chest before he fell dead. Briston picked up a cloth and cleaned the blood off because the blood wasn't his fault. The man should've had them dead.
