Jett

I woke up to my phone the next morning. I groaned as I reached for it. "Hello?"

"Jett? You sound like you had a long night," it was Colt.

"It wasn't that bad," I laughed sitting up against the headboard of my bed, rubbing a hand over my face.

"Well, I wanted to thank you for going over there and checking on them."

"No problem. I did have to run off some guy that was hanging out with your daughter though. I didn't like the look of him. She gave him her number."

"Great," Colt growled. I heard his wife in the background telling him to calm down. He growled and I laughed. Like father like daughter apparently. "Hopefully, this guy stays away. She has a lot going on this year and she needs to be able to focus. A broken heart isn't going to help that." I nod my head but don't say anything because Callie is talking to him again. "Thanks again for stopping by." He tells me when Callie is done scolding him from the sounds of it.

"No problem. I will try to stop by and check on the girls at least once a week. They were not happy at all especially my sisters, but I understand your worry now."

"I always worry about all of you kids. I know you have a great head on your shoulders, but all those girls are just..." He pauses and sighs. "I don't know they are just like their mothers. Independent and hardheaded. They think nothing can touch them sometimes and I just worry. I had friends there that have been checking on them the last few years but with you there, I will get better reports I think." I hear Callie starting on him again and laugh. "Don't laugh, boy," he laughs, "one day you find someone who does this too." I laugh because it won't be anytime soon. "The point I'm making is that I trust you and know you won't let anything happen to any of them, so thanks."

"No way. I will do my best," I tell him honestly. After showing up at that party last night, I know that I have to keep an eye on my sisters and obviously Maddy too. I know that I know that guy if I could just place him, I would feel better.

Colt thanks me again, pulling me out of my thoughts, "I will be sending you a nice thank you gift," he tells me.

"No need," I laugh. He has done more for my family than I could ever pay back. I hear Callie talking to him again.

"Jett, I have to go. Apparently, I am needed." I tell him I will talk to him later and hang.

I get out of bed, looking at my phone, and realize it's only eight in the morning before leaving my room. I smell coffee before I make it to the kitchen. I'm not shocked that Darren is awake and has coffee made. He's probably on his second cup already. He is a morning person. I am not. "Holy shit, is that Jett Decker?" Darren says with dramatic shock in his voice and on his face.

"Ha. Ha," I deadpan.

"I don't think I have seen you up this early on a weekend. After a party," his eyes follow me as I walk to the coffee pot with my finger in the air.

"You're not my type, pal," he laughs, "that Cleo though," he whistles. I turn and glare at him.

"I swear I told you to stay away from the girls," I frown pretending like I wasn't sure if I had or not.

"Why though? I mean that Maddy chick was hot," I narrow my eyes further causing him to laugh, "but Cleo was hotter, so which one is yours?" He smiles over his mug like he knows a secret.

"Neither," I snap.

"Okay, let me rephrase. Which one do you want to be yours?" He's still smiling at me and it is starting to freak me out.
