It's been two long amazing years since I left my father. Truly the best years freedom offered me. I cannot wait for more of them to come.I turned twenty years old only just three weeks ago. I've come to terms with the fact that I will never grow old. Well, that is if I don't fall in love and say I'm in love with someone out loud. Then I will surely perish and rise back up to repeat the past.
The thought of not remembering a previous life scares the living hell out of me.
My new family and I have become very... well-known, in the city of New Orleans. Lestat and Louis have invested in many businesses such as fishing companies and made partnerships with plantations that produce crops like cotton.
We even have become one of the most wealthy families in this city.
Dearest Claudia has been so splendid. The two of us have grown close these past few years that I can't help but think of her as a daughter. She always manages to put a smile on my face.
Her mama must be looking down from the heavens to see how happy her little girl is. Though at times, I forget that she will never grow up. That makes me a little sad but then I remember we will stay like this forever, together. It may seem selfish but I can't give a damn.
Now today is a very special day for us all. Today is the day that Louis and Lestat found me in that alley, bleeding out to the brink of death. I've recruited Claudia to help me plan a surprise party just for the four of us.
I've just let out the florist who came to deliver the red and yellow roses. The red because Lestat compared my lipstick to them, one. Yellow for the color of the sun to show that I too sacrificed my gaze upon it. After I told Louis and little Claudia of my curse, Lestat and I gained a better understanding of each other.
If it wasn't for him I would have begged my papa for my life the moment I stepped back into his house. I truly felt alive when I got into that carriage with the blonde vampire. I owe them until the end of time.
"Daphne, when will our Louis and Lestat arrive back from their trip down at the harbor?" Claudia asks while I pin up her curly hair to show off the neckline of her blush pink dress.
We had spent an hour trying to figure out what she should wear. Over the past few months, she has been more interested in the ever-changing fashion in Louisiana. I'm afraid I don't share the same view on looking pretty. I tend to favor one dress all week, only changing for bed.
"It should not be long now, my love," I say before giving her a sweet kiss upon her flushed cheek.
Her face is bright with color every time she comes back from feeding off whoever deems fit. I've grown used to their nasty habits of baiting their prey. Louis has told me of times when he would overhear Lestat give hunting advice. Now that is utterly disturbing.
