The freshly fallen snow lay crisp on the ground as the sky continued to release its graceful snow flakes to dance through the air. The smell of the forest evergreens drifted thickly through the air as Jasper took a leisurely stroll through the town they had just moved too with Edward. A small picturesque town within the highlands of Scotland. A small town with little over one thousand occupants and historic buildings which still stand from long ago.

" It's a nice town. Esme chose well." Edward said reading Jasper's mind. Jasper huffed slumping his shoulder within his puffy jacket. He did not need the thick jacket that was about three inches thick of feathers, but they need to appear human. Edward himself was in a thick coat; just not as thick as his.

" You really need to stop reading minds." Jasper smirked to him as they both chuckled.

" It's not like I can switch it on and off." Edward said as they walked down the Main Street that ran straight through Dunkeld. People were bustling around going about their normal lives shopping or visiting friends.

" I wonder why Esme decided to move halfway across the world to here? Sure it's a beautiful town. But it was just so sudden." Jasper said as they turned and walked down towards the cathedral.

" Who knows, it's Esme." They laughed heavily as they walked past the square and the parked cars. They walked over the snow in silence as they arrived at the cathedral and walked around it. They walked into the forest at the back of the cathedral as the snow fell gently, sticking to their cloths and hair.

" Well, at least there is a lot of forest area here. Easier to hunt." Edward smirked to Jasper who nodded and smiled his signature half smile.

" Very true." Jasper muttered as a light humming reached his ears. His head snapped around to the sounds origin as well as Edward. A sweet scent drifted to his nose as he took in the smell. It was like walking into a field full of lilies-of-the-vally.

" Edward." Jasper whispered to him as he nodded.

" Yeah." Was all he said as their eyes scanned the ground. Jasper could feel their emotion of love and happiness along with a relaxing mood drifting for the person.

" Strange..." Edward muttered softly with a confused, crunched up face.

" What?" Jasper asked not taking his eyes off the forest as the humming continued in a soft and wonderful tune.

" I can't read their mind." Edward informed his adoptive brother.

" Like Bella?" He asked in return but Edward shook his head.

" No, with Bella I cannot read or see anything. But all I see is white and I can hear nothing." Edward said slightly annoyed at the fact here is yet another human who he cannot read.

" Strange. There!" Jasper told his brother as they crouched behind a bush to hid themselves from this strange human. And there she was.

Brown hair the fell down her shoulders and back reaching just above her waits in soft half curls. Each strand reflecting the dull light as snow caught itself in between them. Her bright blue eyes shine brighter than ice as they watched the snow fall around the forest. Her pale skin lines with soft freckles and a tint of red from the cold air nipping at her gently. Her soft pink lips smiled gently as the soft humming emitted from them. She wore a light blue knitted scarf that was wrapped securely around her thin neck and tuck into her cream colour coat made from cashmere. It had a fluffy cream collar with fluff on the cuffs of the sleeves and six black buttons above a waist tie. Her hands were kept warm by wool mittens the same light blue shade as her scarf. Faded blue jeans covered her legs from the cold of the snow with black leather boots on her feet.

" Jasper no." Edward said quietly reading him mind. Jasper wanted to stand and walked over to her. He felt the urge that he need to be near her. Her face struck something deep down within him, something that he never knew even existed. Jasper did not listen to his brother, instead he stood up. He walked around behind her with a soft smile.

" That's a beautiful song you are humming." He spoke in his Texan accent. The girl stopped humming and whipped her body around with a fright. When she saw it was just a man she smiled softly and placed a hand on her chest.

" You gave me a fright." She told him as she let her hand fall. His long ear length blond wavy hair gripped the snow as it fell.

" I did not mean to startle you. I overheard you humming while I was taking a walk. I wanted to see where it was coming from." He whispered to her, giving her signature side smile. The girl blushed gently at his remark and looked down.

" What's your name?" She asked, her accent made her words smooth yet with an edge that made Jasper smile.

" Jasper Hale, Ma'am." Jasper said straightening up and giving her a slight bow. The girl smiled at his gesture.

" And what about you?" Jasper asked her stepping closer to her. His golden eyes watching her blue ones closely.

" Annella Blair. But most people call me Ann." She smiled taking off her mitten and put her hand out to shake his hand. Jasper waked over and took her hand, bringing it up to his lips and kissing her knuckles.

" I hope you do not mind me calling you Annella. I do not see the point on shortening such a beautiful name." Jasper told her as she blushed deemed. Jasper was a head taller then her as she looked down to the fresh snow trying to his her blush into her scarf. This cause a small smile to erupt onto his face.

" I should be heading back, my grandmother will be wondering where I am." Annella said as she turned around and sighed.

" Then let me walk you." Jasper said stepping up to her quickly. She smiled and nodded to him, not wanting to seem rude.

" Thank you." She smiled as she walked towards the edge of the snow covered forest.

" It's my pleasure. The forests can be dangerous." Jasper smirked to her, he never meant by animals; thought she will never know his true meaning.

" I was raised in this town. I know the surrounding forest like the back of my hand." Annella smirked to him but Jasper shook his head.

If only she knew.
