Chapter 31
It was months later when Andries was again waiting outside the queen’s room as she gave birth. It had been a long few months, the queen bedridden for most of it, her cousin Luka gaining information about Wymon and it's royal family.
Andries sighed, getting up from where he was sitting, his worry much worse than before, with Samantha having been tired her entire pregnancy. When the midwife walked out with the baby, he asked, “How is the queen?”
“Resting.” The midwife said, making him let out a breath of relief before he went to her, taking the baby and going back inside. Like the last time, he refused to see the child without Smantha seeing it with him. He sat beside her, a small smile on his lips, saying, “Two are enough. Can we not make me go mad with worry anymore?” he asked, making her smile tiredly at him.
“Yes. Two are plenty. Have you seen her?” she asked.
“A girl?” his smile widened, having not let the midwife annonce the child’s gender. He then said, “Like last time?” she nodded, and both looked down as he adjusted the blanket, making a soft laugh leave his lips as he said, “Yes, this one looks like you.”
“Luky.” she laughed as well, taking her into her arms, “She is beautiful.”
He leaned close, kissing her temple before he whispered, “I’m sorry he couldn't see her first."
“What are you going to name her?” she asked, their eyes meeting.
"What do you think?" He asked her.
"She is yours." She breathed, a single tear escaping her eyes, making him wipe it before kissing her forehead, "Let this one thing bond you."
He looked down at the baby for a moment, then said, "Simona."
"Simona Gallorich." She breathed.
"First of her name. Princess of Jomion." Andries muttered, caressing the baby's cheek.
"Where is my niece?" Luka demanded, walking in, making Samantha laugh as he came to her, about to take the baby.
"Careful now." She said.
"Oh god, adorable." He gushed, "I'm showing her off!" He announced, walking out of there, making Andries shake his head as he smiled.
"Make sure he doesn’t drop her, will you?" Smanatha said worriedly.
"He was supposed to be in Wymon. Had to come back at the perfect time for this." Andries sighed getting up, "It is so peaceful without him around." He said, making her chuckle. "Luka!" He scolded when he walked out, seeing him carrying the bundle from one person to the next before he went to Ezra, placing her in his arms. He saw the way the man smiled down at her, making him relax a bit.
"When are the grandparents coming?" Luka asked, turning to Andries.
"Seems they will be another week." He told him. The former king and queen having moved to a manor in a different part of the kingdom, telling them they wanted peace after retiring the throne to them both. Andries knocked his knuckles against Luka's head, saying, "She isn't a sack of potatoes. Careful with the baby."
"Don't be a grumpy old man." Luka said, turning back to Ezra. "Beautiful, isn't she?"
"Looks like her mother." Ezra said, his smile gentle.
"Would you mind returning her to the queen?" Andries asked, seeing the grateful look in the man's eyes before nodding, heading to the queen in the other room.
"Gracious of you." Luka said.
"Now can we sit and talk of what you found?" Andries deadpanned, making him laugh.
