The play-in games came and went, it was now time for the first round of the playoffs and this year the Pacers wouldn't be participating. After losing the second play-in game, the Pacers were left at home or on vacation watching sixteen other teams compete for the championship. On top of being flung into the lottery by the Wizards, the front office wasted no time in 'parting ways' with coach Bjorkgren, much to each party's relief. This meaning there was an opening for the head coaching job. Nikita didn't spend much time pondering whether or not to go up for the running, she easily declined knowing she'd be very pregnant by the time the next season started.

Caris and Nikita sat silent in their car. They'd just arrived home from Nikita's first appointment where they heard their baby's heartbeat. A beautiful moment that caused them to hold hands for the first time in seven days.

Still in silence, the couple made their way into the house. Nikita chooses to trail a few steps behind not sure how her husband felt. She walks in finding him seated on their kitchen island.

"Hey, are you still mad at me?" Cautiously, Nikita takes small steps leaving her only a few feet away from him.

A short silence falls upon them before Caris lifts his head to look at her, "I feel like I should be, but I can't find it within myself to be mad at you."

"Well, at least we're talking again." Nikita smiles, a sense of relief washing over her as Caris chuckles.

"I mean, I still feel like you should've told me. But it's not something to be mad at you about forever."

"I'm sorry. I just got scared and that led to me being selfish." Nikita apologizes, to which Caris smiles and opens his arms out, inviting her to come closer.

"I'm sorry as well, your fear was and still is valid. I understand how much harder it is for you in a male dominated field and I didn't show that when you were voicing your concerns. But everyone knows how good you are and I don't see you losing credibility any time soon if ever." Nikita embraces her husband warmly closing the gap between them both figuratively and literally. "Can't fill this big ass house with kids if we're mad at each other..."

Nikita abruptly lifts her head staring dead at her husband, "I'm gonna go look for a two bedroom cause I know damn well I'm not getting pregnant five times! We need to drug test you, twenty-two."

"You right, Simmons. Babysitting Jamila and Kemari was enough to tell me I can only handle one." Nikita laughs remembering how Caris only called her by her last name when they met as well as the many instances babysitting Yadira's twins served as a reminder to take her birth control pills.
