New Beginnings

Surprise Guest

A/N: Hello!! Thank you guys so so much for being so patient! I have 1.5 weeks left of school then you can expect more frequent updates. I hope you enjoy this chapter and please leave a comment as they make my day!!

It's finally Friday and I can't wait to see Ally and our boys. Oz is so so sweet and fits into this family so well, along with Ally. I could really get used to having them here all the time.

After the spat with Matt a few days ago, we spoke on the phone and he apologized. However, his muttered 'sorries' were completely unacceptable. I told him I think he needs a break from seeing the kids this weekend. He was absolutely furious and has been calling me non stop since. I was tired of reiterating myself so I stopped responding.

This morning his mothers name surfaced on my phone screen and against my better judgement, I answered. I got an earful of how horrible I am to keep their father away. I didn't realize one weekend would cause such commotion but I can't be bothered to give it much thought. Matt was the one who fucked up that day.

I've kept Ally up to date with the ongoing confrontation and she suggested another daily sleepover for tonight. I thought it would be great to have the kids all together for the evening and to later sleep in her arms, so without hesitation I agreed.

We picked up the boys together after work and Ally and Oz came over straight after. The boys were all in the backyard playing with some toys on the vibrant grass and Ally and I were enjoying some wine inside, watching them from the screen door.

We decided to order pizza for the night, Ally's idea. She suggested it since she knew how stressed I've been with Matt and figured it would be best to not worry about cooking too.

As we sit and chat, occasionally taking some swigs of wine, we hear the door being knocked on almost frantically. Ally goes over to grab it, insisting I stay put. I smile and walk to the kitchen to refill our glasses so everything is perfect when she comes back. As I grab the wine and pour the glass I hear 2 muffled voices across the house where the front door is.

I hear Ally raise her voice and my eyes go wide "excuse me??" then I hear another voice I know all too well "I said who the fuck are you???" My stomach drops. Shit.

I frantically make my way over to the door only to see Matt, and then Ally guarding the door. . She stands her ground, not letting him in. I rush over "Matt what the fuck are you doing here?" I say shocked. "Is this her Y/N? You'll let her see them but not their dad?" I stand in front of Matt, Ally moves to the side to give me room but she does not walk away. She stands guard with me which I was very appreciative for.

"Matt, I think it's best for you to not see them this weekend. I made that clear. Get off my porch." Matt rolls his eyes "since when do you get to decide what's best for them? You didn't even want kids, remember?"

I feel my face rapidly warm, my nostrils flare and before I comprehend my actions I feel my hand meet with his face. Matt winces in pain, holding his cheek and glaring at me. From the corner of my eye I see Ally's eyes go wide. "I get to decide because I was always there for them. For fuckssake even when you were there, you weren't emotionally there for me but more importantly them!! And I get to decide because I'm the one with full custody. You seeing the kids is a privilege. Do remember I do not have to allow you to see them at all. So like I said. Get. Off. My. Porch." I say between clenched teeth.

Silence. After a few moments Matt quietly says "sorry." I let out an audible exhale through my nose "you've said that before. Prove it." I say, implying he should act and leave like I said. He nods and walks off, heading towards his car. Once the car is out of sight I close the door and lean on it, letting out a sigh.

I close my eyes and feel Ally's hand reach for mine. "Y/N?" She says as she catches a stray tear from my eye. I open my eyes "I'm fine. I'm sorry you had to see that." She smiles sympathetically, giving me a hug and running her hand through my hair "don't apologize sweet girl."

The rest of the night went well, it was a nice distraction from the prior sour events with Matt. I obviously didn't tell the kids about the interaction, I don't need them to stress. This is between Matt and I anyway.

The pizza came not long after Matt left and we stayed in playing games and watching movies. All the boys ended up falling asleep on the couch so Ally and I had to carry them upstairs. It was quite sweet.

Ally and I went to my bedroom to also get ready to sleep. We went to the bathroom together to wash our faces, brush our teeth, do our hair and change together. Again, it felt really nice having her by my side doing mundane tasks together. She makes me feel so much more safe.

Ally finished up before me so she hopped in bed, on her side. Wow, I can't believe we have sides. Such a simple thing but it's something I haven't shared with someone in a long time, let alone someone that actually cares for me like I'd always hoped.

I come out of the bathroom to see Ally on her phone. Her eyes meet mine and she smiles, putting her phone on the nightstand to charge. I slip into bed and smile at her. She opens her arms for me to lay down which is exactly the act I was waiting for. I giggle and go over to her, resting my head on her chest. Ally reaches over quickly to turn off the lamp.

She runs her fingers delectatly up and down my arm and I close my eyes. After a few minutes she says "Y/N?" I hum in response. "Sorry sweetheart I know you're tired, I just wanted to say how strong I think you are. I love you so so much. You deserve the world." I look up to her despite the room being all dark. I find her lips and kiss her delicately. "I love you so much Ally."

She kisses me back and I go back to my head on her chest, listening to her steady heart beat. "Goodnight love." Soon after sleep overtakes my thoughts.
