driving out of the desert sand
hitting pavement just ahead
I was holding on tight to her ass
she'd popped an unexpected wheelie
my ponytail dragged along the interstate
her hips .. clenched between my knees
I immediately reached .. grasping her breasts
something solid .. firm .. to hold on to
feeling myself slipping .. she hit the throttle
my hands got tangled in her metal .. wiry hair
front tire bounced .. gripping the road
we were off .. arid wind in our faces
something sharp on my hand
damn scorpion biting like hell
I smashed my hand on the gas tank
It let go .. falling away .. blown into the wind
pulled my old timer from my side belt
cutting away the bitten .. darkening skin
bit blood from my lip .. cursed out loud
sucked the poison out .. hard .. spit like crazy
man I was getting dizzy .. not from the weed
humming .. thinking I was hearing music
Van Halen's song .. Running With The Devil
reverberating through my hallucinating mind
later to discover the satellite FM radio wasn't on
looking up I saw familiar stone art
along the near edge of the dunes
names .. faces .. hippies had created
on days they'd nothing better to do
I imagined they must've been so high
my composure slowly coming back
Phoenix, Arizona not too far away
five miles ahead .. the sign read
I nudged her .. she was driving fast
finally she began slowing down
I pointed towards the exit ramp
we got off the smoking hot interstate
pulled into the Crazy Horse Saloon
dry .. desert air had parched our throats
we parked .. went inside .. ordered beers
I hobbled over to the billiards table
still woozy from the scorpion's sting
put a dollar coin in .. began to rack
handed Szzay a few dollar coins
asked her to play the jukebox
