"This day can't get any better huh?" You hissed as you turned around and started sprinting away from the horde of zombies in front of you. They weren't the fastest beings but they could easily run for ages without getting tired. After a few months of experience with these things, it gave you some knowledge that was useful. They are strong but somewhat stupid.
Their screams and groans were something that always sparked anxiety in you. It reminds you of how powerles you were compared to them. Yes, killing one was easy but 20? Alone? With no quirk? That wasn't gonna happen.Running back towards the entrance where you came from, you were met with another horde of zombies blocking your way. "Just what I needed" You spat, as you stopped and looked around you.
Sunlight shined through the glass roof illuminating the place casting hard shadows under the balcones on the floors above you. Shoes and clothing stores surrounded you. This once was a normal place that you would go to with your friends, and now? It was empty, worn out, covered in dust and debris. You were forced to stop to prevent yourself from getting eaten alive and you had to think fast about what your next move was going to be.
The maps on the board to your left caught your attention 'Ground Floor'. You were in the middle of this giant building with both exits blocked by flesh eating monsters now targeting you. Having no choice but to go up you started breaking it for the escalators on your right.
God you hated running. Not only that but up the stairs as well? It was always so tiring, draining the energy from within you. You couldn't use your quik here, not inside as it would be too dangerous. The control you had of big scale attacks wasn't enough. One attack could be the end of the zombies and you, especially here. It would light up the place like a fucking beacon, grabbing the attention of more zombies from around and that was the last thing you needed at the moment.
You just wanted a normal day for once. Without having to run, to worry, to think.
This morning was quite calming as you planned on exploring the mall near your new found apartment. Not that you had a choice though. The stock of food you had was running low so you had to. On the second floor of this abandoned building you had found an apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen. It was fairly furnished with everything you could want. Most homes were torn apart, emptied out but this looked untouched. Like the people living inside just vanished without a trace.
Getting ready to go out. You tied your hair back, put on a shirt with on top of that a sweater to keep your arms covered, a lightweight pair of running shorts that hugged your legs and sneakers. It was always good to keep your body covered. Not only because of the sun but having exposed skin was too dangerous any open cut could get infected and bye bye life.
Then You grabbed your gear. Thigh straps to hold you a couple of knives, a backpack with rope, a flask filled with water, a flashlight and plastic bags. You have yet to find a long close combat weapon like a bat or spear. Using your quirk was handy but only in open places.
Going to your kitchen you grabbed a protein bar and headed to the living room opening the sliding doors to your balcony. You locked the doors behind you as you were preparing to leave. Grabbing the rope that hung from the balcony above you and wrapping it around your hand, you climbed over the railing making your way down. It was an easy system. You tied rope around a heavy object almost as heavy as you and ran through the rails of the balcony one floor above you, so you could grab it and savely make it to the ground.
Yes you could use the front door but the risk of getting ambushed by zombies was too big.
You had a clear view of the street and knowing when you could go out and not was better than getting thrown a surprise party by zombies as soon as you stepped out the door. After reaching the ground you started your morning run, making your way to a mall that had your eye on for quite a while now. You had seen it in your first couple of weeks entering this neighborhood. You took a deep breath letting in the sunlight shine on your face, the air was cool as it filled your lungs. Breathing in the outside air was always something that gave you peace for a moment.
You never realized that the training preparing you for UA was going to be helpful for this particular situation. Not that you actually got a chance of having a full month of school. Nor did you expect to survive for so long. The zombie apocalypse broke out a month after you attended UA. You and your brother both were recommended students but you were placed in different classes.
Adrenaline rushed through your veins as you ran up the escalator. Looking back you could see the zombies bumping into each other and pushing themselves through the tight space of the stairs leading to you. You always noticed how desperate they were. How badly they wanted to reach a human. Yet you've never seen any of them die from starvation.
Reaching to the top of the stairs you bumped into somebody.
Falling to the ground, you quickly looked up to see who you bumped into. A loud cry filled your ears as you dodged a head reaching for your neck. You screamed in surprise Crawling backwards reaching for your knife tucked to your thigh.
You stood up facing this morphed once human being, sunken eyes filled with lust. It started running towards you again. Taking a fighting stance you lifted your arm up with the knife in hand as it was now in arms reach. It opened its mouth ready to bite as you dragged your arm to the right, slitting its throat.
A black syrup like blood covered your hand and arm. raising your leg you kicked the zombie in its guts sending it flying down the stairs. temporarily blocking the other zombies from going up. 'That was close' you thought to yourself as you once more started running up the stairs to the top floor.
Running into one of the stores you closed the doors. Shaky breaths left your lips. You hid behind one of the shelves to catch your breath, resting your hands on your knees. It was quite easy to escape zombies as they were dumb as fuck, guess they lossed their braincells after turning. Just going out of their sight was enough, but staying quiet was critical.Sliding down to take a moment to look at your body. You had a few cuts on your legs and side. 'Must have been from when I fought that zombie' You thought. Once the adrenalin rush calmed a bit you took in your surroundings.
