Holly and I stayed close together, her with the heavy sniper sitting in front of her upon the rooftop, peaking over the edge at the empty rooftop, and me prone alongside her with a sniper scouting the desolate rooftop of the ship. I don't know exactly how they work, all I know is that when I pull the trigger, it will shoot.
The leader of the group, the one who confronted us earlier, they call him the Leo. The man looked like a walking machine. His biceps stretched the lining of the shirt beneath his armour and his thighs were like big muscular mountains!
In the distance behind us the helicopter had landed, far from the view of the ship, staying out of sight and out of mind.
Leo had set up a heavy metal tripod at the edge of the roof, onto which he set a massive cylindrical weapon, an RPG launcher firmly attached to it's stationary position, loaded with a missile ready to fire.
In front of him was a rope secured to the rooftop and falling to the ground for us to grapple down for easy access to the ground, though myself and Holly were both warned to stay up here, away from the danger.
I glanced to me left, to the rooftop across the street where three more snipers were prone out of sight, waiting for any sign of movement. And then to my right, to the next rooftop alongside us holding a similar formation... this time it was us doing the stalking, not the enemy.
Leo caught his aim with the launcher, catching the ships hull in his aim and pausing for a moment to take in the silence... this is the last time we may ever get to hear the sound of sweet nothing. Not one person was in sight of Vertuga, all of us hidden in the cape of the town as the midday light shadowed overhead, dark clouds blocked out the sun and released white snow upon our heads, mine kept warm by the hood of my raincoat wrapped over my hair.
He caught his aim on the ship, holding it there for a moment. I could hear the wave's crash and the snow fall, I could see dust float by and could even hear Leo and Holly breathing. There were footsteps from beneath I could hear from this height, the clicking of clips into their ammunition sockets, the thumping of hearts against the chests of many adrenaline fuelled fighters willing to risk their lives.
Leo was the only one out in the open view of the ship, kneeling upon the rooftop whereas all the others were prone. His back was kept straight, his body aligned behind the launcher mounted onto the rooftop.
He glanced to me, his blue eyes catching mine. I looked back to Leo, blocking out the snow and covering his hair with the black beanie upon his head.
He whispered the words 'Cover your ears'
I did, I pressed my hands against my ears until all I heard was the ringing inside my head... and then a sudden loud ring that followed fire bursting from the mouth of the launcher and at light speed a missile flew towards the ship and hit it right in the front of the hull, the part lodged into the shore. The front of the hull blew open, slates rained like snow upon the shore and flames expanded the hole made in the ship.
'We lure them out!' he shouted, looking back to his men and women down on the street, and dozens more around the corners, hundreds scattered throughout the town. He loaded a second missile into the weapon and as he did he shouted out 'And we kill them all!'
A cheer roared from the crowd so loud I thought it was that which had shaken the ground, not the second rocket that flew into impact on the ship, the collision shook it violently.
Just then from doors upon the empty deck of the ship, guards came bursting out.
'Let's go' I whispered the myself, and as I did every sniper rifle in the town went off, and with them a second exploding RPG flew to the ship's hull and hit it in the same spot, further expanding the portal leading inside Vertuga.
