Millie POV

"It's already three am though." Karl stalled.

"I don't care, just get in." I convinced him. "I promise it'll be fine."

He got in reluctantly as I plugged my phone into the aux chord and started the car, rolling down all the windows. "It's hot inside anyway." I added on.

I started playing Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna as I pulled out of the driveway. I hummed along and turned onto the main street, there was no one on the street, I pressed my foot harder down onto the gas pedal, looking to my right and smirking at Karl.

"Millie." He said in a warning tone. "You are going one hundred."

I shrugged and tightened my grip on the steering wheel, going quickly through a green light. The air whipped through the windows so hard Karl's hair blew down into his eyes. "What if you get pulled over!?" He shouted over the loud music and wind.

"It's okay they love me!" I yelled back.

"You've done this before?" I smiled smugly and turned, my tires screeching and making a black skid mark on the asphalt. Karl grabbed my arm.

"Of course I've done this before." I replied, intertwining fingers with him and humming along to the song. I thought to myself for a moment.

Funny I like to go so fast when this exact thing killed my parents.

For some reason I started laughing, like it was just a funny joke. "You're crazy." Karl stated, running his thumb over my knuckles.

The song started playing police sirens and Karl looked at the rear view mirror, checking if there actually was a cop.

After about ten more minutes Karl seemed to calm down, he loosened his grip on my hand but didn't completely let go.

There was a loud siren that went off about five minutes later. I sighed and pulled to the side, turning off the radio. "Just, don't say anything." I told Karl, rolling down my window and unlatching my hand from his.

"What the heck, Mi-."

"Kid, again?" The cop who I'd learned was named David groaned. "I told you to stop like six times alr- who's this?" He bent down and looked in at Karl.

"That's Karl."

"Listen, I know it's fun and stuff but you can't be doing this anymore."

"Fine, sorry Dave."

"Don't call me Dave. Now drive back, I'll be following."

I sighed and rolled up my window, watching David make his way back to that car, his dark skin looked deep golden under the street lights.

I unlocked the door and me and Karl walked inside as David waited by the doorway for me to go wake up Clay.

"Clay?" I asked, shaking Clay awake.

His eyes fluttered open slowly and I took a step back. "What's wrong? Why are you dressed?" He asked, taking in a deep breath.
