George POV

When I woke up, Clay was absent from my side. I released a long breath out of my nose and looked at the clock. It was already eight am.

"-Ere there and- and mom and dad were too." Millie was saying and I stumbled into the kitchen, still half asleep. "Except you were you when you were ten and I was wearing my blue shoes, remember my blue shoes? The ones with the flowers?"

Clay nodded. "You loved them, you refused to get rid of them when you outgrew them." Just as I was turning around to go back to bed an arm snaked around my waist. I turned around and looked up, Clay was smiling at me. "Hey." He said, running his hand through my hair. I leaned my head against his chest and closed my eyes.

"Anyway, I just thought it was weird, everything looked the same and no one was there but then they just, appeared."

"That's so strange."

"Also it was like I was invisible or something, like I called your name and touched your shoulder and stuff but you didn't look up at me."

Clay hummed. "It sounds kinda cool, though. I haven't seen that house in like a million years."

"Okay I have to go get on a class but I just thought I'd tell you."

"Mkay, see you this afternoon."

"Bye!" And then I heard Millie running up the stairs.

Clay squeezed my side. "Do you want to go back to bed?" He asked, kissing the top of my head.

I shook my head no. Clay giggled and nodded. "Are you sure? You're tired."

I put my arms around his neck and let him lift me up by the backs of my thighs effortlessly. "Is that a yes?"

"Mmhmm." I hummed, lying my head on his shoulder.

He laid down in bed with me still on top of me, the covers were pulled up over my body and Clay hummed, putting his hands just below the backs of my shoulders. "How'd you sleep?" He asked, lifting up the back of my shirt and rubbing my back soothingly.

"Good." I said quietly, closing my eyes.

"You know Millie had to have a cop drive her home last night, well, technically this morning."

My eyes opened wide and I stared at him. "What?" I was completely out of my haziness when I heard that. "What did she do?"

"She was driving one hundred at three am."

I frowned. "Why?"

Clay shrugged. "She's gone out before really early but I thought she was just going on a run or something."

"Did she get a ticket?"

He shook his head no. "The cop said that was her last warning though."

"You talked to him?"

"Yeah, he called her my daughter." He chuckled quietly.

I looked at him for a little while. "You would be a good dad." I stated randomly, hiding my face in the crook of his neck.

"Really?"

"Yeah." I hummed.

I could feel a smile radiating off of him. "Thank you, Georgie." He kissed the corner of my mouth.

I shrugged and closed my eyes again. "What did you say to Millie?"

"I told her I loved her."

"She was going one hundred?" I asked.
