Millie POV
"Grab the candles and blankets." Clay instructed me and Karl, he was carrying George on his back and George was hiding his face in the crook of Clay's neck. "And we'll get the flashlights and something to eat."
I nodded and took Karl's hand, leading him upstairs. "Why does the oldest one here have to be babied?" I whispered to Karl as we climbed up and walked down the hallway.
"Because Georgie is baby." Karl said.
I rolled my eyes and laughed, jumping up and pulling on a string that hung down from the ceiling. "You stay there and I'll hand stuff down to you."
"Why do we need candles?"
"To see."
"Well, yeah, but do you even have enough candles to-."
"We have one hundred twelve candles." He looked worried. "It's fine I'll only get down like twenty." I started climbing up the foldable ladder, turning on the light in the attic as soon as I got up. "Okay, here's the blankets." I sat on the edge and handed them down to him, doing my best not to drop them on i'm his head. "Just set them there."
He took the candles from me one by one, making a sort of circle arrangement by his feet. "That's it?"
"Yup." I started climbing back down the ladder, Karl held his hand out for me and I took it, jumping down. "Doesn't it thunder in North Carolina?"
"Yeah but there's not a lot of power outages, there's not a lot of anything there, really."
I hummed and picked up half the candles and two blankets, Karl doing the same. "Would you ever want to go back to New York?"
"Maybe, if MrBeast didn't work out or I got fired or something, I would either move back there or to Spain."
"I want to go to Marbella." I stated.
"Same!" I turned around and grinned at him before starting to walk down the stairs again. "I want to swim there, I feel like it would be cool." I nodded. "I would also move to Greece, just some place cool."
"I like that."
We set everything down on the kitchen island. "We got twenty candles, is that good?"
"Mmhmm, can you put four in the bathroom, three in my room, five in here, and the rest in the living room and around there, but don't light them yet. Also, if you want to get like a change of clothes and anything you need, you should bring it up here, I think we should all just stay up here." Clay instructed.
"Sure." I responded, not remembering half of what he said. "Can you come with me upstairs?" I asked Karl, tugging on his shirt sleeve.
"Yeah, why?"
"I need to get my stuff but I don't want to go alone."

A low rumble of thunder sounded like someone rolling their trash can out to the curb on trash day. I leaned into George more and he wrapped his thin arms around me, from the corner of my eye I saw Clay glaring at me, he was sitting in the loveseat to the left.
The power hasn't gone out yet so we were all watching the news, out in the living room. "Clay, can you get me water?" I asked, smirking at me.
"N-."
"Can you get me water too?" George interrupted him declining my request, running his hand through my hair soothingly, just like my mother used to do in storms when I was scared.
He sighed and stood up, rolling his eyes and walking to the kitchen.
Karl was sitting on the other end of the couch, scrolling through Twitter mindlessly and eating a bag of chips.
