We reached my bike and I handed him the helmet that I usually wear. I got on and stood ready to take off towards the tower waiting for Nightwing to get on. However, he just stood there, staring at me impatiently waiting for him.
"Would you like to continue staring until you bleed out?" I huffed, revving the engine. He jumped a bit from the noise and put the black helmet on then hobbled over to get on the back of the bike. It was a bit uncomfortable having another person ride with me but eventually I pushed that out of my mind and drove through the streets as fast as I could. The ride was silent, which I was grateful for. I knew when I got back Cyborg would be anxious to hear about what happened and I was not ready for the endless amounts of teasing that would ensue once Nightwing left.
We reached the garage slower than I would have liked. When we got off, I closed the garage door and turned to see Nightwing staring at my bike again. I walked to the elevator and coughed hoping to get his attention without having to speak to him. He looks up and starts to limp his way towards me. I roll my eyes and levitate him over to the elevators myself wanting to heal him before he loses any more blood.
"I didn't know you rode motorcycles." He stated as we slowly ascended the tower. I shrugged. "It's easier, less obvious in battle, makes me look cool." I said flatly. He snorted and looked over at me as we reached the main floor lobby next to the common room. I stepped out of the elevator and studied his leg as he walked. It had bled through the piece of my cape, which means it would take a lot of concentration on my part to heal. "That's my old bike isn't it?" He smirked as I helped him to the couch. I broke my gaze on his leg and looked up at him. "Yeah, it got left here and I knew you weren't going to come back for it. So, I repainted it" I said lifting his leg onto the coffee table. I walked back to the kitchen to grab old towels and placed them on the floor in case any blood was to fall, after all I did just get the new hardwood floors installed.
I can feel his pitiful stare on me as I place my hands over his left calf. Closing my eyes and taking a few deep breaths I focus my energy and my power into mending the muscle and tissue in his leg. "Raven I never said I wouldn't come back. I just..." he started. I broke my concentration and looked up at him. I'm sure he could see the frustration and hurt in my eyes and if not that then he definitely felt the emotions through our bond for all I could currently pick up from his brain was guilt.
"Save it Nightwing. I suggest if you don't want to walk around with a bullet in your leg you let me heal you." I snapped. Perhaps it was unfair of me to treat his so coldly. But in the logical part of my mind knew he deserved it. He left me alone for over four years. All of the titans left, but he was the last one. He knew that when he left, he wasn't going to come back even if he did tell me I was his best friend.
I shook out the thoughts and regained focus on his leg. Slowly I was able to pull the bullet out and place it on the pile of towels on the floor. I continued to focus for another ten minutes or so until I was pleased with the way the wound healed. I stood up, slightly dizzy from the loss of energy and looked at Nightwing sternly. "You're on bed rest for at least a day or so. Refrain from putting pressure on it, I can heal wounds, but you lost a bit too much blood to just get up and be fine right away." I said as I grabbed the bloody towels and made my way to the laundry room that was in the hallway on the left side of the common room. I made sure to get rid of my own clothes that were laying in the way and made a new load with the bloody towels. I threw my cape and the torn off piece away knowing I could spare one of the many that I owned.
When I turned to walk back to the common room, I came face to chest with Nightwing who was casually leaning against the door frame. I huffed in annoyance as I picked him up with my powers again and took him back into the common room couch. "When I say bed rest, I mean it. Don't move." I snapped. While he lost his smile, his gaze remained on me as I walked to the computers and started typing up a report for what happened in the park. "So, how did they get here?" I started.
"What?" Nightwing asked looking up confused. I rolled my eyes at his lack of focus that was so unlike him. "Harley and the Joker. Why are they in my city?" I said turning to face him. He was casually leaned up against the back of the couch with his leg propped up on the table. He looked even more handsome than I remember, but I would never allow myself to admit that anywhere other than my thoughts.
"You're city? As far as I'm aware you're not the only one who lives here Raven. This is all of our homes." He smirked, crossing his arms over his chest. Out of all of the things he could have said in that moment he chose the only sentence that set my temper off.
"No Nightwing, this is not your home. This is my home, these are my people, this is my life. You and all of the rest of the Titans left the chance to call Jump City home when you left. You are here on business and nothing else, so I intend to capture the Joker and Harley and send them and you back to Gotham." I said sternly. I watched as his mask moved, usually meaning he was widening his eyes.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, but if you'd just let me explain why I left." I shook my head and went back to my paperwork. "When's the last time you've heard from anyone. Not even just our team just anyone. Speedy? Aqualad? Kid Flash? Because I sure as hell know that you haven't talked to me in the past four years." I shot back. He looked at me and opened his mouth like he was going to speak but I could tell without any words that I had gotten him. After a long stretch of silence, I spoke again. "That's what I thought. Now I'm going to ask again, how did they get here?"
