I slowly walked down to the common room and saw that the only ones in there were Cyborg and Bruce. They seemed to be mid conversation about something to do with the Justice League.
"Ah, there she is. Waffles for the girl coming right up." Cyborg smiled as he put a plate next to an already steaming cup of tea. If Cyborg stayed here much longer, I knew I'd never want another waffle again, it seems to be all he makes me. I sat down at the island counter, taking slow sips of the warm tea.
"How are you feeling Raven?" Bruce said from his spot at the dining table. I held out a thumbs up and could feel his confused stare on my back. "She can't talk for a week. Doctors orders." Cyborg clarified for me. "I see. Well Raven, I take it by the fact that Dick is in the lab with a small nanobot that the surgery was successful. When you feel that you're ready we can begin our plans to capture the Joker and Harley." He said. I nodded still not sure that everything was okay.
I had finished my breakfast by the time Starfire came in. She gave me a hug, taking care to not squeeze me too hard. "Friend Raven it is so good to see you not in a glass cage. Just wait until you see her!" she said with a happy voice. I looked at her quizzically and could see Cyborg pinch the bridge of his nose.
"It was meant to be a surprise Star, for when Gar woke up." He said as he started doing some dishes. I hated not being able to speak at such an unclear time. I had no idea what they were talking about and couldn't even ask. Starfire seemed a bit confused but evidently didn't mind much as she walked to the fridge to get mustard.
I decided to leave the common room as the Justice league chat continued between Cyborg and Bruce. I walked my way to the lab where all of our experiments and research was done. I hoped to find Richard but much to my disappointment the room was empty. I saw the device that had been implanted in my neck on the metal table. I could feel the negative energy radiating off of it as if warning me to stay away. I decided to listen to the instinct telling me to run and went straight for the next thing I thought of, Richard's room.
I knocked quietly knowing that Beast Boy was also asleep in the next room. When I got no answer, I decided to tap into the bond quickly, not wanting to be too creepy. I could feel anxiety and distress but also a calm feeling coming from the room which most likely meant he was having a nightmare.
I phased through the door and saw Richard sleeping in his old room. It was odd to see his grown self in his old surroundings. I noticed that all of his old costumes were still hung pristinely in his closet and the shoes aligned neatly at the bottom. I smiled at the old picture frame hung on the wall, the only form of decoration he had in his room. It was a picture we took at our last charity event, all of us dressed to the nines.
"I said call me not sneak into my room." His low voice said suddenly. I jumped at the sound and saw that his eyes were still closed but he was holding one arm out. I took that as my cue and awkwardly sat on his bed letting him wrap his arm around my waist. "You're not gonna kill me are you? Cause if so could I at least go get breakfast first?" He smirked and opened one eye to look at me. I rolled my eyes and used my powers to pick up his pillow and hit him with it. I could feel him laugh as he put his pillow back and pulled me down to lay next to him.
"I'm glad you're okay Raven." He said as he closed his eyes again. I couldn't respond verbally so I did the next best thing and hugged him tight. "So are you just gonna sit here and watch me sleep or what?" He smirked. I huffed in annoyance of both his bad humor and my lack of response.
When I stayed silent for a while longer, he opened his eyes back up and caught me staring at him. "Like the view?" He smiled. I rolled my eyes and rolled over trying to give him the cold shoulder. "So is there a reason you're not speaking to me?" He asked in a more serious tone. I nodded and tapped my hand against my throat hoping he'd get the message.
