"Can I see it?", Garan asks gently once they are inside the carriage. Val knows that he's referring to the Jade, so she holds it out to him. The faint light coming off it is enough to illuminate the carriage from the inside.
Garan carefully holds it in his slim hand, analyzing it. "So, you've met the Queen of Sighting," he begins. Val simply nods. "Are you starting to believe it now?" he continues. He's staring at her with his dark sparkly eyes that look like the starry midnight sky outside the carriage's window. It's magical. Val has already started to believe it a long time ago. She just didn't want it to be true.
"I think I might have used my powers for the first time," Val's voice is weak and raspy, but her mind is as clear as glass. Garan chuckles, "I doubt it was the first time. Nonetheless, it is fantastic news. Good job, Val. But that's good for now. We'll talk about it tomorrow, you've done enough today," he smiles at her wholeheartedly. Val is glad that the day has finally come to an end. She's awfully tired. Dánica hasn't said a word, she has just held Val as if afraid she might faint.
Once they have arrived home, Val throws herself onto the mattress, that although its thinness feels like lying on a cloud, forgetting about her small injuries and her dirty clothes. Her mind feels dull, yet her emotions have ridden a rollercoaster today. Val is all worn out. She has earned a good sleep.
