I realize that these are pretty short chapters. This is really a shorter story. I don't think it'll go past fifteen chapters, but I'm trying to make them mysterious and exciting! You'll never guess what the ending is! Thanks for reading. Vote, comment, and fan! -Lauren

I spent the next few hours cleaning up my apartment. The dishes were washed. My laundry was drying. Things were peaceful.
*Knock knock* Again. I walked to the door and spotted her through the peephole.
“Hey Annette. What are you doing here?” She stood in the doorway looking stunning.
“Nothing really. Just got out of work. Thought I would stop by a check on you. How are you feeling?”
Annette was my older sister and best friend. She was an artist and sold her work downtown in a fancy gallery. She was off to college on a full ride scholarship when my dad left us and my mom met Ryan, my stepdad.
“I’m feeling much better now. I met a guy at the bar last night. He brought me home, and now we’re going out to do things.”
“Things?” She gave me a questioning look.
“Yes. Things.”
She sat down on the couch and rested her feet on the small table.
“Tell me about this mysterious boy of yours.”
“Well… He’s blonde. And he has brown eyes. His name is Evan. That’s really all I know about him. Oh. He has muscles too.”
“Well that’s good. Evan sounds cool. What time are you going out to do ‘things’?”
“Five thirty-six. I’m meeting him in the park.”
I left Annette in the living room and retreated to my bedroom. Shuffling through the things in my closet, I found some black pants and a soft gray sweater. I pulled them on and grabbed my journal and cell phone.
“You can stay here if you want.” I passed Annette on my way out.
“Sure. Mom called me. She wants to talk to you. She said she couldn’t reach you last night?”
“Yeah, my phone was dead. I crashed when I got home.”
I found the bench in the park and sat down, looking over at the pond. The sun was beginning to set and the reflection of the fall trees shimmered on the water. I glanced down at my watch. Five thirty-six. Exactly.
“Just on time?” Evan placed his hand on the shoulder as he appeared behind me.
“Exactly.” He sat down next to me and looked out over the water.
“This is beautiful. You picked the perfect spot. There is not another spot in this entire park with a more gorgeous view.” I felt his eyes on my face and I felt my cheeks heat as I blushed.
