Chapter 6: Professor Lucas' Lab

We have received yet another G.U.N. Mission from the Commander through a hologram in the helicopter. He says that we're investigating some sort of ruined building that's been into ashes for about 3 decades. Not only that, but there's the real reason why we should check that place out. A few elements in there have survived the fire. Especially those in the basement.

Wow. Okay. Maybe it's no wonder why the place has a basement in it. The things there would've exploded and be burned to ashes if it weren't for this room, I think.

But by the time I hear my name, there's some kind of familiar feeling about the place the Commander was talking about. It feels as if I've been there since the very beginning. Since I first set my eyes on anything! It must be Professor Lucas' Lab!

Honestly, it's been so long ever since I woke up with amnesia. I might be a little occupied with exploring the outside world with my adoptive family with myself meeting my chao friends along the way.
After our conversation with the Commander, I suddenly hear Comono's voice in my head.

Is everything alright?

I then, decide to answer in thought now that I know the Langcomns' culture and purpose. I'm fine. It's just... There's something familiar about this place. It could be my father's lab.

Yeah, I get it, he says in my mind.

Well, obviously, it has some sort of connection with me, I think.

Yeah, exactly.

I decide to sit back, relax and think of theories on what would happen if I enter the basement along with Shield Alliance and Team Dark, though I feel a tingle of nervousness inside of me.

I notice Shadow's eyes fixing on me with a look. I think he notices something must be wrong with me. I should've hid my tingle of nervousness inside of me, but it looks like I'm one second late. His facial expression also says that we might need to talk when we're alone.

Nonetheless, I exhale softly and quietly before sitting back. Then, I relax and think of things that always get me motivated.

Soon, we have arrived.

We exit the helicopter. One by one. First being Shadow, then me. Next is Savvy like always whenever she's sent on a mission with us. Next is Comono, then Bearace, then Juniper. Rosy is behind Bearace and Mystico is flying beside Juniper. Rouge is next, then Shania flies out of the helicopter on my side. Omega is next and the two pilots in the helicopter are the last ones to go out.

The first thing we notice before us are shattered pieces of the roof. As I take a few steps forward, I can hear another few steps following me, but they stop because it is believed that I have some sort of connection with this place. I'm beginning to get a chance to take a look at those features.

Pieces of wood. Even the tiniest ones. Shattered pieces of glass. Shards of wood from the door and posts. Ash covering the pieces. Smoke makes me scrunch up my nose in disgust. Chemicals are still scattered eveywhere. But where's the basement?
I start looking around and investigate other features. I'm also keeping my eyes on the secret door leading to the basement. Turns out, I find none.

After a few minutes of investigating, two robotic hands start to lift up a large piece of a roof. Ash starts to rain in front of Omega. Under the large piece is a wooden plate.

I look up at Omega.

"Thank you," I whisper.

"No problem," he says.

I slightly nod in response. I look ahead for the direction to the wooden plate. Turns out, only small vacant areas are available. The only large vacant area available is surrounding the wooden plate. The rest are being filled with shattered pieces and chemical liquids coming from Professor Lucas' Lab. I don't really know what will happen if I step on the chemical, but whatever it is, it can be really dangerous.
