The bus reaches it's destination and I'm the last one to step out. I frizz out my hair a bit more so that it can hide my face from anyone who decided to look at me, which they never did anyway. I make my way to my locker avoiding any and everyone. As I near I see a brunette head bobbing up and down to what ever music she's listening to, I all ready know who it is , I smile for the first time since the weekend, not a forced one- a real one. I walk to my locker twisting the combination in, ignoring the brunette as she glare at me waiting for a hello, she clears her throat and I finally look up to meet her cold little look "Oh! hi Mia, when did you get here?" I say, She just rolls her eyes "Hey Kate, when did YOU get here?" I already know she's making fun of my height since I'm only 5'4 and she's 5'8, she picks on me- Not the bully type, but the loving older sister type "What ever" I mumble and she cracks a smile "how was your weekend?" she says as she puts her stuff in my locker , I have no idea when or why we started sharing lockers, but I don't mind, she's like my sister I never had, the best friend you'd die for these days and she's the only one who knows my secrets "Oh the usual" I tell her as I step back waiting for her to hurry up and close the locker. She gives me a worried look and gets ready to throw millions of qustions my way but i stop her before she can even start "Just homework and my room" I say, she gives me another worried look "When was the last time you ate?" she ask a bit shakely "Oh shit" I think, It's hard lying to the only person who knows you better then the foster system, as I try to think of a lie , Mia pulls out a container "Here, don't you dare think about lying to me and you better eat this" she say, I take the container "What is it?" I ask "Brownies" she reply, at the sound of that my stomach rumbles like a car that needs a tune up "thank you" I whisper, she hugs me "see you in 3rd hour Honey" she says and then turns and walks to her first class of that day, I sigh and stuffs the brownies in my bag before walking to my first hour as well.
