After I sat in the Ice Shack and went over Basic Training with Susanna, I went home. I felt like I was an airplane gliding on clouds with happiness fueling my engine, nothing could ruin my mood, not even my foster parents. I ended up making it back to school in time to catch the bus back home. I would admit that even though I was happy, I was disappointed in myself for skipping school, I'd never let it become a habit though. The bus made it to my side of town in no time, I got off the bus and started walking home. Please just be a good day I prayed. I didn't honestly care if I got in trouble because I had a job to look forward to YAY!! I suddenly stopped "when was the last time I ate?" I said out loud. I bent over as nausea washed over me. I couldn't recall the last time I'd ate anything. Oh My God! I thought as more nausea hit me like a bucket. Why me I thought as tears started to run down my face. I started jogging home, I knew there was old pizza in the fridge, that would have to do for now I thought. I reached the front door and twisted the knob. It was locked. I dug out my key and tried unlocking it, but because I was born with an curse, I dropped my key. I retrieved the key and finally got the door open. I didn't expect the house to be empty but I honestly didn't care, I was about to die from starvation! I ran towards the kitchen trying to get to the fridge as fast as possible when something stopped me. On the fridge was a not wrote in chicken scratch. "Hope you're not too hungry darling, food in the fridge if you are". I opened the fridge and as the note had said, food was in the fridge, a lot at that. I was confused because we only got food when someone's social security check came or my adoption check. But that only came on the first of the month and it was the middle of April. I stared at the food before I closed the fridge, completely forgetting my hunger. "Something isn't right" is what kept running through my head. I walked to my room confused. As I got to my room, I noticed that the door was a jar which was once again weird because I kept my door closed at all times. I slowly opened the door and almost passed out, literally. Instead of my usual single mattress, there was a queen sized bed, with even a box spring! I was lost. Everything was just too much. " I thought these people hated me, especially what's her face, wasn't she just talking about my dead mother?" I thought. Thinking about the words she said really stung. I wished more then anything that my mom was here, I'd be happy again. I realized that I'd started day dreaming because the next thing I know, the front door was opening.
