Chapter 8 : Winners and Losers

In every story there will always be two categories, two different groups of people, the winner and the loser. As much as I'd love to say that I am the winner in my story I obviously wasn't...

"To the new couple!" Garroth said making a toast

"To the new couple!" Everyone including Katelyn continued

"May I also make a toast?" Katelyn asked

"Of course Katie" Travis said "The floor is yours"

She then stepped forward gripping her cup with her hands that were slightly shivering but took a deep breath to maintain her composure "This toast of course is for the new couple Travis and Evelyn, two people who were meant for each other since they first met"

No they were not

"I could not imagine my dear bestfriend being with anyone other than you Evelyn"

I could clearly imagine him with me,he would be better with me

"You make him so happy"

I also made him happy, made...Made... It's all the past...The happiness I gave him has been forgotten

"I'm so happy that he gets to be with someone he's happy with"

Happy...yes...all I want for him is to be happy...

"Cheers for many more years!"

Even if it means being without me

"Cheers!" Everyone said clinking their cups together

Katelyn tried her best to keep a smile on for the entire party until everyone had to leave at 1am

"Thanks for sticking by to help clean up Evelyn!" Travis said as he placed a can of beer in the trash bin

"Anything for my boyfriend!" She replied

Boyfriend...Why can't I accept it?

"Thank you again babe!"

Maybe it's because I haven't moved on yet...

After cleaning up Katelyn asked Travis to join her in her room and she followed whilst Evelyn finished up throwing out the garbage

Katelyn then sat on her bed and Travis did the same

"Is anything wrong Katelyn? Did you eat anything bad?" He asked so innocently

"I'm going to ask you a question and I beg of you,please answer it honestly"

"A-anything"

"Why do you love Evelyn?"

"H-huh?"

"Why did you want her to be your girlfriend? I might know the answer but I just want to hear it from you,I want to know what makes her different from any other girl you've ever seen"

"Evelyn was always someone I could pour my entire heart out too"

You did the same to me too

"She was always there when I needed her"

I stayed up countless numbers of nights to watch you at the hospital, couldn't you notice it? Notice me?

"She's compassionate and has a big heart"

I-I...

"She's understanding and does her best to be the best version of herself"

I-I n-never...

"Whenever she made mistakes she does her best to right her wrongs"

I never did that...

I could never be like her

"I love her because she is an amazing person"

I never even forgave him let alone myself for what happened that night

"I love her because she loves me for who I really am"

And so do I

"I'm so happy you have someone to be there for you Travis" She responded

He placed his hand on her shoulder and gave her the smile he used too give her when they were still dating "I'm sure one day you'll find someone to love you as well Katelyn"

Trust me I already have

He's standing right infront of me

Loving another girl that isn't me

Smiling and laughing with another girl that isn't me
