"We should wait a bit. Your wound is quite fresh and it could attract the thing" he looked back at the entrance.
"I guess I'll be the bait then" you walked to a ladder and wanted to climb it, but he stopped you.
"Are you crazy?! You're going to die!" his grip around your arm tightened. You looked at him and shook your head,
"I'm not. I know I betrayed you once, but please trust me for now" you looked at him, waiting for him to let go. He took a while to think and sighed, letting you go.
"Alright, just be careful!"
You nodded and started to climb the ladder up. You took a look around the whole messy village, to see where that monster was. Suddenly, the pain on your arm began to grow again,
"Fuck..." you held it and tried your best to endure the pain. A loud growl interrupted your pain though, you looked up and saw the monster walking around, taking some sort of routine. You memorised it quickly and went back down, tripping a bit in the process. Ethan caught you up and looked at you worried,
"So, did you see the monster?" he tilted his head in question.
You nodded and explained him the routine,
"I'll try to walk it over to the mine before it catches me..." you thought before you continued the plan, "maybe place two mines, just to be sure"
Ethan got out two mines and readied them. You took a deep breath and held your necklace before leaving the house with him.
The cold wind blew against your face, giving you a chill down your body. You started to walk close to the wall and tried to listen to the monsters footsteps, they seemed a bit far. You looked back at Ethan, who was setting up the mines and giving you a thumbs up, meaning it was ready for the plan.
You nodded back and walked a bit quicker towards the footsteps, they were now followed by heavy breathing. The breathing sounded human-like, it made you think what this thing was before all this happened. You gathered up all your courage and stood behind the monster and made a noise, so its attention was turned towards you. It started to roar, attracting another one of its kind.
"You've got to be kidding me.." you held your arm which was bleeding again, letting the blood drip down on the white snow. The two monsters were attracted to your fresh blood and were ready to launch themselves at you, but you were quicker.
You started to run back to where the mines were placed, not looking back at the monster, the fast and heavy footsteps was all you needed to hear. You saw Ethan with a big weapon in his hand, you were confused but didn't have time to think about it. You quickly jumped over the mines and stopped next to Ethan who was a few feet away.
The two monsters ran into the mines and blew up, creating a smoke around them. You tried to catch a breath and looked at Ethans weapon, trying to figure out what it was.
"Stay steady! These fuckers are not dead!" he put up his weapon, ready to fire at them. The monsters were on their back, whining in pain.
"Shoot them then!" you looked up to him.
The weapon released a small flash and all you heard was an explosion. You looked over to the monsters, who were starting to crystallise. You walked up to their crystallised bodies and looked back to Ethan.
"What exactly is that weapon...?" you asked him while holding one of the bodies, which were heavy.
"That was a GM 79 a grenade launcher. I quickly made some explosive rounds while you were bringing them here" he took the crystallised body from your hand and stowed it away, he then let out a big sigh.
