Sarah's POV

It's been days. Nights are filled with screams and roars. I've been taken back for testing once since the events with Alex and Ari. Nothing really new happened that we can tell.

Alex and Meghan are still here as well. They haven't been taken out at all since the events. It seems they're busy with other things.. other people. I think the wait is going to kill Meghan before any sort of test. She's going crazy with anxiety about it, let alone the looming fear for Ari. They refuse to tell us anything, and the only sign of her being alive is that we can hear yells. It's hardly recognizable, but I've made it my priority to memorize those screams... roars?? The sounds. It's all we have left, and I need to make sure I can tell her yells from the others.

Oh, yeah. We found out there are more than just the 4 of us here. It makes sense, but it was confirmed on Meghan's first night. We heard a guy screaming from the hallway, begging. It was muffled through the door, but we could hear him nonetheless. It sent Meghan into tears. She had barely grasped at the situation she was in before then, for her there was probably still hope it was a dream. However, his screams were too real...

My thoughts are interrupted by the door clanging and screeching open. I can see Alex and Meghan in the corner closest to the door, Alex in front of Meghan with a cocktail of rage and fear in her eyes. I stand up, ready for (hopefully) anything. I'm not going to sit by idly while others get hurt again.

However, unlike the other times, the person who walks through the door isn't just a guard. They dawn a white coat, glasses, and a tired expression. They have guards behind them, and the confidence of someone who's walked into a lion's den before. They look around at us, then look down at the clipboard. They flip through the pages for what felt like a few minutes. The atmosphere was tense, the air felt thick and hard to breathe in.

"From our prior research, we noted that you" the doctor points to me "are the closest one to..." they look through the pages again, "Ari, correct?" They look at me expectantly.

I'm frozen. What do I say? Do I lie? Why do they want to know? I look over to Alex and Meghan, they too are frozen. Alex is taking glances at me, keeping her focus between me and the guards. Meghan is just staring at me, seemingly terrified.  I'm ripped from my trance by a high-pitched, ear-splitting whistling sound. I fall to my knees, hands over my ears. The sound is already gone, but my ears are still ringing. I look up to an inpatient doctor looking down on me.

"Well?" Is all they said.

"I... Uh..." I blink a few times, shaking my head. It takes a second for the room to stop spinning, and when it does I stand back up. "Y-yeah... I suppose so, yeah..."

I look over to Alex and Meghan, who are giving me confused, terrified looks. They seem fine, and not like they were just disorientated to shit. I give them a confused look back, but it only lasts a second as I'm whisked away. It was all a blur, probably because I'm still trying to figure out what's happened.

------------------------

I've been lead down extensive hallways, nothing new I suppose. By the time we get to our destination, I've recovered from... whatever that was. I did ask on the way there, but I got no answers. Not surprising, but still.

They drag me to this large metal door, riddled with small dents and scratches. It seems really heavy-duty, and I have a feeling once I go in I'm not getting out any time soon. Before I can say anything, at least 20 guards show up, guns pointed towards the door. I look around, confused, and then alarms start blaring, lights flashing. This happened only once, not long after... Ari..?

Before I can get any further with that thought train, the door starts opening, loud clanging from inside of it can be heard under all the alarms. Suddenly, I'm shoved into a sort of box, sitting down. It's closed and rolled to the edge of the door. Not in the room, but one tap, and I would be. All the lasers from the guns light up, searching for something in the room. I hear a sort of confirmation yell, and they all converge to one corner of the room. It's dark, but there is a figure in there. A figure that is quiCKLY MOVING TOWARDS-

"NOT ANOTHER STEP OR WE WILL SHOOT" I hear over a sort of speaker system as one of the lasers moves down to my box. I look back at the figure, only slightly brighter now. It stopped its approach and slunk back towards its previous corner.

"Proceed," is all I hear over the speakers before I can feel my wheeled box get pushed into the large, dark room.

Wait. They're pushing me in there!? With THAT!? I start panicking, looking for a way out. Banging on the glass, shouting to let me out, anything to get out and back to my room with Alex and Meghan and... My attempts are futile, as the door starts closing, and I'm left in the darkness with the beast.

I sit still.

I try not to breathe.

If I breathe there's no way I get out of here alive.

The only thing between me and that is a single sheet of glass and I doubt it's enough.

Just stay quiet, and I'll be fine.
