Sydnie's POV
I sat beside my brother as we ate what little food we still had left. Glenn chucked a finished bone into the field and I chuckled, he's such a kid. He wrapped his arm around me and I rested my head on his shoulder. Everyone was sitting by the fire except for Daryl, and Rick. "That's his third time around," I said, watching Rick walk around the perimeter yet again. "If any part of it was compromised, he'd have found it by now."

Glenn just shrugged and handed me my untouched bowl. I shook my head, but he didn't lower his arm. "You need to eat Sydnie." I sighed and grabbed the bowl from him, picking at the small ration of squirrel.

I finished my bowl and stood up, "I'm gonna go give Daryl his, he won't eat otherwise." Carol handed me the bowl for Daryl and I gave her a small smile. I looked up at Daryl who was sitting on top of the over turned bus, why was he so distant from the group?

I reached the bus and climbed up, Daryl watched as I attempted to get up, failing because of my screwed up arm. Daryl huffed and readjusted his crossbow, he leaned down and grabbed me under my armpits, lifting me up. "Thanks," I told him. "I brought you this. I know it isn't much, but it's something."

"Thanks," he muttered, sitting back down. I looked down at him and hesitantly sat by him. He watched me from the corner of his eye, but didn't say anything.

"Why are you out here alone?" I asked. He didn't say anything, just shrugged. "You don't talk much do you?"

"Nah," he grunted. "Like my space."

I looked away, "I can go if you want.."

Daryl looked over at me, "I didn't mean it like that, ya can stay."

I smirked to myself and played with my knife that was tucked in my belt. I glanced out of the corner of my eye and saw Daryl watching me. "Yer not like the rest of them."

"What?" I asked, what the hell was he talking about?

"The women, I thought ya would be, ya know stuck up and everything, thinking ya run the place." He gave me a small smirk, "Yer not though, yer different."

"Good different, or bad different?" I smirked.

"Good." I felt my cheeks blush and I rubbed my shoulder, grunting in pain. "What's the matter?"

"My fucking arm, I think I sprained it when you guys found me."

Daryl licked his fingers off and rubbed his hands on his pants. He flicked his wrist, motioning me to move closer. When I didn't move he rolled his eyes and turned to faced me, pulling me back in between his legs. "What the hell are you doing-" I let out a moan as I felt his hands working into my shoulder.

After a few minutes of him massaging my arm and back, I looked back at him. "Were you a massage therapist before this?"

Daryl chuckled, "I look like someone who would sit in some prissy little building givin massages?"

I laughed, "You're right." We sat together in silence, it wasn't uncomfortable it was just, nice I guess. I realized that I was still sitting in between his legs and I shivered from the closeness.

"Ya cold?" He asked. I mumbled a yes and he placed a hand on my hip, pulling me back into his chest. My body froze and it was suddenly hard to breath, I knew Daryl wasn't one for being close, so why was he so suddenly affectionate? His body tensed up under me as I froze, shit, he probably thought I was mad or something. I relaxed and leaned my head back into his neck, making him calm down and wrap his arms aground me.

Even though it was fairly cold out, being so close to Daryl's body kept me pretty warm. "Daryl?"

"Hmm?"

"Did anyone ever tell you your poncho is really ugly?" I smirked.

I could practically feel his glare and sure enough when I looked up he was, but this time it was more playful. "Who are you? The fashion police or some shit?" He smirked.

I nudged his arm, "I was just joking Daryl." he chuckled and nudged me back.

I could faintly hear Beth singing back at the campfire. "We should head back." he stood up and pulled me with him.

"You sure, it's pretty romantic up here, could screw around a bit?" I suggested playfully.

Daryl scoffed and gave me a look, "I'll go down first."

"Even better."

"Stop," Daryl grinned, pushing me gently. I chuckled and followed Daryl down, walking back to the camp. As we reached the camp I recognized the song Beth was singing, it was The Parting Glass.

I made eye contact with Glenn and gave him a smile that he graciously returned. Daryl was standing beside me, watching Beth sing, he wasn't even smiling, he needed to loosen up once in a while. I listen as Beth continued singing and decided to join in.

Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away

Glenn's eyes lit up as he heard my voice for the first time in eight years. I looked beside me and saw Daryl watching me with a grin on his face.

And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it fell unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

I felt something on my hip and looked over to see Daryl had wrapped his arm around my waist. "Beautiful," Hershel told us.

"We better all turn in," Rick said from his spot by Lori. I didn't know their story, but I could feel the tension radiating off of them."I'll take watch, we got a big day tomorrow."

Glenn gave him a questioning look. "What do you mean?"

"Look I know we're all exhausted, this was a great win, but we gotta push just a little bit more. Most of the walkers are dressed as guards or prisoners, looks like this place fell pretty early. Some of the supplies might still be intact, they have an infirmity, commissary."

"Armoury," Daryl said beside me.

"There will be food, medicine, this place could be a goldmine."

"We're low on ammo Rick," I told him. "We'd probably run out before we could make a dent."

Rick shook his head, "That's why we're gonna have to go in there, hand to hand." The group looked at each other nervously. "After all we've been through, we can handle it, I know it. These assholes don't stand a chance." He stood up and walked away without another word.

I rolled my eyes as Lori got up to follow him, what's that dumb bitch going to do now?

"Why don't you go ask," Daryl whispered in my ear.

My eyes widened. "I said that out loud?"

"Yeah, but no one else heard." he chuckled.

"Thank god," I leaned my head on his shoulder and sighed. "Guess I'll see you in the morning."

"Night Sydnie." he smirked and let go of my waist.

I couldn't stop the blush that rose in my cheeks as I walked over to Glenn. He'd already laid out the sleeping bag that he shared with me and I climbed in beside him.

Glenn pulled me closer to him and smiled. "I missed your voice."

"Thanks," I blushed. I tucked my head into his neck and let out a breath. "Now that I'm here with you, I'm realizing how stupid I was for leaving you for eight years."

"Stop," Glenn told me. "That's in the past, we don't have to think about that anymore."

I sighed, "You're right Glenn."

"Of course I am, goodnight."

I scoffed and kissed his cheek. "Goodnight, I love you."
