Tony's POV

Today had been so confusing. First, some weird kid who had been shot somehow got my number before dying (I think) and then Spider-Man had shown up on my balcony literally bleeding out. I hadn't even met Spider-Man before. His mask must have had some kind of tech in it to stop someone from pulling it off when he was unconcious, cause I tried. It was honestly sad, watching a man who had only ever tried to do good slowly fading from the world on an operation table. I had to look away. We hadn't even talked yet but still I felt a strange sense of protectiveness over the red suited arachnid.

"Friday, bring up everything you have on Spider-Man from the past few days" Almost instantly videos and newspaper articles hovered around me and I flicked through them until something caught my eye. A Newspaper from yesterday

SPIDER-MAN BRUTALLY INJURED IN FIGHT AGAINST THE SHADOW; HE SAVED US, BUT DID HE SAVE HIMSELF?

The article then went on to describe how Spider-Man had supported a falling building long enough for civilians to evacuate before going hand to hand with The Shadow and stopping him before he could poison the entire city. Apparently The Shadow had knocked him down significantly five times and each time Spider-Man had gotten back up and in order to defeat him, the arachnid had to throw himself onto the The Shadow's sword which explained why he had been impaled. I felt adoration for the man and quickly shook it off, denying the fact I felt anything towards a complete stranger

"Tony?" Bruce called as he stepped out of the operation room. I looked up from the holograms and smiled a bit in answer

"He's stable, but do you have any idea what happened?" I shrugged before flinging my research at him. His eyes skimmed the same article I had previously been reading and his eyes widened

"W-we didn't even know" He muttered quietly. I glanced down sadly. He was right, the Avengers were meant to be a beacon of hope and save people, but all we did was sit on our buts in a tower; literally above everyone. The man who was currently unconcious in my building had been fighting all the right battles to keep this city safe. Without him, it would be choas.

"He's been fighting big threats for almost two years now. All we've done is shun the world" I whispered knowing how Bruce was feeling cause I feeling it too. Guilt, shame and regret was running through my blood and I gestured towards Spider-Man's door. Bruce just stepped aside, saying nothing. Didn't blame him, this all felt wrong

"Ka-Karen?! Where am I?" I heard a shuffle behind the closed door and quickly rushed to calm the hero down before he did something that could hurt him. When I finally turned the knob my eyes went wide as I made eye contact with Spider-Man as he hesitated on the edge of the window

"SPIDER. MAN. DOWN. NOW!" I yelled feeling the need to treat him like a child. He obeyed almost instantly and sat down on the bed instead, I glared at him

"What do you think you were doing? Huh, just gonna commit suicide. Well, not in my building. Go somewhere else" I didn't actually mean that, but then again I don't mean half the things I say

"Gee, thanks Mr. Iron Man" I could almost feel the eye roll from behind his mask. I narrowed my eyes, why did he sound like, 12 years old? He seemed to follow my train of thought though cause the next time he spoke his voice was alot deeper. I was suspicious but let it slide

"Sooooo, what's up?" He questioned fiddling with the blanket beneath him

"Dunno, wanna explain why you literally fell out of the sky and pretty much died on my balcony??" I shrugged and took in his reaction. The room grew silent and he stared at something on the wall opposite him causing me to sigh

"Mhmm, didn't think so. Anyway, I have a proposition for you" I walked closer and did a double take at how small this guy really was. Shaking the feeling off I clasped my hands together dramatically

"I would like to make you, an honourary Avenger" I said and I swear he almost fainted. I furrowed my eyebrows suddenly worried by his shaking form, then realised he was just excited. Like REALLY excited

"Oh, my, god. Why?" I was not expecting that question but answered anyway

"Uhhh, let's see. You've got super powers, a suit and a great moral compass. Plus I don't think you need any more close calls like that in the near future. Anyway it's really up to you. So, yes or no?" I was rambling and I was confused as to why I felt so nervous, what happened to my carefree 'I don't like you' demeanour? Then I realised. I was worried, worried that he wouldn't join and go off and get himself killed

"So you want me to be an Avenger?" Spider-Man asked in disbelief, I shook my head

"No, no, no. HONOURARY Avenger, there's a difference" He smiled behind the mask and I looked at him questioningly

"Yes or no? Come on, times running out" He stared at me for a second

"Yes" I smirked at his answer

"Yes?" He nodded and I held out my hand

"Welcome to the team Spider-Man" He over the top shook my hand before pausing and hesitating a bit. I was curious as to what he was thinking

"Your not backing out, are you? Cause you don't get a second offer" he instantly shook his head before seeming to decide on something. His hand reached up and began to peel away his mask, my eyes widened in surprise. In front of me stood a litteral twelve year old

"Peter Parker, Sir. I'm 17 by the way" he added the last part as clarification and I was glad he did. He didn't look 17, with his brown mop of hair and doe eyes. It was then I decided I would never let anyone ever lay a hand on this boy. Ever.

"Well then, kid. Wanna meet the team?"
