MOVING ACROSS THE WORLD WASN'T YOUR IDEAL SUMMER IDEA.It was the worst thing to ever happen to you... or maybe the best. Leaving all you friends and the rest of your family behind to go to some stupid school in Tokyo just because of some stupid art you draw? Your parents had enrolled you in this random school halfway across the world, and you were beyond pissed. The fact that they hadn't even talked it over with you? That made you even angrier.
You would be leaving everything, including your sister, for art. It filled you with waters of rage that you channeled into drawing again. The angry art that plastered itself over your sketchbook page, the black pastel that stained your hand as you smudged it across the white paper.
Your hand suddenly jerked to the side, bringing your mind back to reality as you grabbed onto your drink and the side of your seat.
"Sorry for the disruption everyone. It looks like we are having a bit of turbulence and we ask everyone to put on their seatbelts.."
You did as told while the women repeated the instructions in another language for others that didn't speak (first language). You sighed as you tightened the seatbelt as much as you could. Grabbing onto your phone, your put your headphones back in, the loud music helping distract you from the violent movement from the plane.
Whether you wanted to get out of this or not, it was simply too late now.
Soon enough you were able to finally land. The ride had shaken you up, being the first time you had been on an airplane that you could actually remember, seeing as how your family didn't travel due to your father always being away.
You quickly managed to find your bag, quickly exiting the large and overcrowded building. The noise alone made your head slowly start to ache. Yet now you were alone in Tokyo. You looked down at the address ridden on your hand, moving and searching online for the nearest train station. After realizing you've been going the entirely wrong way, you turn around, only to bump into someone.
You dropped your phone, a string of silent curse words coming out of your mouth. Crouching down to pick the device up, a larger hand grabbed it before you could. You looked up as the male stood up, holding your device out for you. Large golden brown eyes, a very wide smile, and longer grey and white hair that was styled up; almost forming two horns.
Like a great horned owl.
You felt as if he was looking down at you like prey and your worst nightmares came true. His body was larger and his height definitely hadn't failed him. Your body suddenly felt extremely small, his eyes threatening, and his smile taunting. Inferiority.
You felt like a small Athirappilly night frog against the large great horned owl. The large predator flying above it like a vulture. So small that one simple claw could easily end its life with one small movement.
Yet this wasn't the wild. Somewhat. It was a busy street in Tokyo. So... wild for you.
You stood up straight, yanking your phone out of his hand. The male stared down at you for a minute before speaking, his loud voice making you flinch.
"You look lost! Need some help?"
You blanked for a moment. While your Japanese was rusty, his clear voice actually helped a lot.
"Um... yes." Even though his presence was overwhelming, he carried a sense of safety and protection. Also having someone stronger than you on your side was never a bad thing. Sometimes being the helpless Athirappilly night frog with only brains, needs a large great horned owl to protect it from other predators. Other owls, snakes, cats, crows, foxes. Anything larger than it that could eat it.
"Where are you trying to go?"
You held up your left hand, glancing up and him before hesitantly showing him the address of your new home. His much larger hand grabbed yours, pulling your palm closer to his eyes.
"No way... this is almost my address." Your eyebrows furrowed.
"If you replace the five with a seven-" he tapped his pointer finger on what you assumed to be the said number. "-then that's my address. Your going to live next to me? Your the person The Who bought the house?"
Your neighbor. He would be your neighbor. The luck of finding one person in a city of 13.96 million people. You had found the person you would live next to by complete accident.
It had to be an accident. The male had no idea you existed. Now though, he did and the impact it would have on his life is insane.
"I'm going home right now, I can take you there after I pick up something for my sister."
You hummed, hoping that following a random stranger through the streets of Tokyo wouldn't get you kidnapped and killed by a random serial killer.
"What do you need for your sister?"
"She said pads and tampons but I don't know what those are. She said to find them at the super market. She also said they have wings but I don't understand that either."
You stifled a laugh, and quickly told him you could help him. He grabbed your suitcase for you while your duffel bag stayed attached to your back. At the store, you had grabbed what his sister described and he carried your duffel bag for you while you had the bag for his sister. He brought you into the subway, that wasn't the best experience. It was extremely crowded.
After that terrible experience you had made it to a quiet neighborhood. Along the way the male started to tell you about himself. Bokuto Kotaro, two older sisters, going into his last year of high school. Fukurodani, the school you would be going too. He played volleyball, he was very excited and hoping to be the captain in this year, he was in the top three aces in Japan, which was kinda cool.
Soon enough you stopped between two houses, the one on the right being yours, the left was his. Bokuto looked down at you and smiled, holding your duffel bag out to you. You gave him his bag and grabbed your suitcase and bag.
"Thanks for your help."
"Can I walk you to school next week?" His smile was almost too friendly, making it seem as if it was dangerous. An eerie feeling made its way into your stomach. You hesitantly nodded, seeing him smile wider.
"Great! I'll let you get moved into your new house. My mom may invite you over to dinner so be warned." Bokuto let out a loud laugh, waving to you and heading into his house. You slowly followed suit and went into your own house, using the key your mom gave you.
Placing your bag on the counter of the open kitchen, you sighed and looked around. The pre-furnished house seemed so empty without your sister running around or your mom in the kitchen trying to cook something new that could only turn out terrible. You started searching around the open house, less windows to your liking,
You walked up the stairs and quickly found your room. The bed with unmade sheets and blankets on it looked just like the one back home. You sighed and shoved the pointless sheets off, spreading out the blankets and quickly moving underneath them. You hummed as a small smile came to your face, comfort of a bed and the heavy jet lag kicking in could easily knock you out cold.
New home... new me?
