"Are you sure you're okay?" Natasha asked while we were walking.
"Yeah, I don't want to talk about it." Natasha sighed an okay. I knew she was worried about me, everyone was. It's been 3 days since I was taken here, since then, I've gotten at least 50 "are you okay" and "It will be alright."
I looked up at Natasha. "Promise you won't tell anyone?" She simply nodded. I sighed and told explained to her my dream, and the woman whom I had met again. She nodded. "I'll make sure to inform Tony of this." Then she put her hand on my shoulder. "Remember, your safe here. We aren't going to let anyone hurt you, alright?"
I nodded. I still wasn't sure where she was taking me, but I just continued to follow her. "So, is Tony like, your leader, or something?"
I've never heard Natasha laugh as hard as she did before, nor have I ever heard her laugh at all. "Absolutely NOT! Tony just the one who delivers all of our information about you to the big boss, Nick. Nick is the one who told us about you in the first place."
"Oh, okay."
We continued to walk for about 5 more minutes, ignoring the frequent stares, until we got to a door with a sign that read "TR". Natasha put her hand on the door, "Here it is."
She opened the door to a gym. There were weights neatly piled on shelves and across the floor. Treadmills were lined up across the side of the room. It was empty, except for one blonde-haired woman there. Her back was turned as she lifted what looked to be 400-pound weights. Yet she was lifting them with one arm in ease. When she flexed her arm, the muscles didn't seem to tighten, and they looked the same as if she hadn't touched the weights at all. She even didn't have a single drop of sweat on her. Steve was right about this place. Incredible.
When the door shut, the woman turned around. She smiled at either the sight of me, Natasha, or both of us.
"Hey!" she said. She dropped the 400-pound weight on the ground, resulting in a resounding slam. Natasha smiled and waved, not phased by the woman who was just holding a 400-pound weight like it was a sandwich. "Hey, Carol."
Carol's eyes trailed down to me. "This must be...?"
Natasha nodded. "Yep." Carol put her hand out for me to shake it. "She's quiet," Carol said as I shook her hand.
"Yeah, she is still getting used to everything."
Carol nodded and looked at me. "Hey, I'm Carol Danvers. I'm just here to help alright?" I nodded.
Natasha smiled. "I'll give you two some space." I really didn't want her to leave, I was silently pouting in my head. Natasha shut the door.
Carol straightened up with more excitement. "Alright, are you ready for some small talk or do you just want to get straight into it?"
Her surprising energy made me smile. I shrugged my shoulders. "Sure."
"That's what I like to hear. Today is your first day of training. Me and you are pretty similar, that's why I was chosen to train you. Are you ready?"
I don't think Carol knows what exercise is. I thought my gym teacher was brutal.
"Come on! You can do it!" Carol yelled as she thought I could lift a 100-pound weight. It never even budged. I repeatedly told her I couldn't, but she continued to tell me I could.
Okay, okay. I can do this. I took my hands off the bar and rubbed them together. I concentrated hard. My pulse quickened and beads of sweat made their way down my face. The weight slowly lifted off the ground. I heard Carol's cheering in the background as I lifted the weight higher and higher. Yet there was no pain in any of my arms.
How was I doing this?
I lifted the weight higher, eventually going over my shoulders, then I finally dropped it on the ground. Carol began clapping and smiling. She congratulated me on not giving up, but I was still in shock. I've never worked out a day in my life if you didn't count the school warmups in PE, but I barely ever actually did that anyway. How can a 15-year-old girl like me carry a 100-pound weight? Carol put her hand on my shoulder. "Great job Kaitlyn, I know you're still confused, but you're gonna have to get used to it." She patted my back. "Now come on, you're not done yet."
I don't think she understands how I'm feeling right now. "I have a question," I spoke.
"Yeah?"
I pointed to the weights, "What the heck whas that?"
She smirked. "You've just unlocked a piece of your power."
