You are apart of the Kira case's task force working along side L, the greatest detective in the world. The two of you were best friends, and grew up in the Wammy House together. Like L you are a highly intelligent detective who has solved some of the worlds greatest mysteries, and your high title easily got you onto the task force.

Today was just like any other day, but somehow it felt different. It felt as though a bolder was sitting inside of your stomach dragging you down every waking hour. No matter how hard you tried, this horrible gut feeling could not be shaken. Something bad was destined to happen today, and there was no denying it, no matter how many times y/n tried.

"Your tea, Ryuzaki-," right as you attempted to hand the teacup over it slipped through your fingers spilling all over your white dress shirt. The tea being extremely hot pained your skin, and you tried not to make a face as it burned your stomach.

"well shit," y/n whispered under her breath.

What a dumbass, why the hell are you so distracted today? There's nothing to be distracted about so get it together so you don't make a fool out of yourself in front of all your coworkers.

"it's fine," L said unbothered.

"Sorry, I'll get you a new one," y/n sighed. You scolded yourself once again and walked over to the tea kettle carefully poring tea into another clean white cup, as you did so the horrible gut feeling hit you once again but you quickly tried to ignore it snapping back into reality.

Y/n sat the tea kettle down next to a few sugar cubes scattered messily on the counter, all the sudden a feeling of another human loomed over her. Y/n turned to her left side and was met by L slouching right next to her, she raised an eyebrow at him, "You want your tea that bad?" y/n asked in a playful tone, as a small smile rode across her face.

"No, I just thought I might ask you why your so distracted today?" L question, with the same expression plastered onto his face.

For a reason that you could not explain that sentence hit you hard, y/n couldn't put her finger on exactly why she was so distracted today. She was never like this, and both of them knew that. Was it that feeling, were you just tired, or was it something more? You didn't want to lie to L and tell him that it was nothing. You trusted him and didn't want to betray the trust between the two of you from a silly lie, and after all you hated lying.

"Sorry, I just have a weird feeling about today," y/n finally admitted.

"I see," he mumbled trying to hide the frown that was slowly becoming visible.

Y/n walked back to her room to change out of the now tea stained dress shirt that she had been wearing. Y/n grabbed the handle from the tall wooden dresser and pulled out the second drawer half way. She scanned the shirts that sit snugly in the drawer and picked up a soft polyester green blouse.

Flashback:

Tears stained your face as your younger sister grew smaller and smaller in the distance, she waved back at you until she was no longer visible. Your eyes grew puffy and more tears streamed down y/n's face, she could no longer hold in her emotions. Y/n was going to break, and so she did. She sobbed quietly at first but then the sobs grew louder and louder as y/n was being dragged away from the only family she knew. The sobs turned into bellows, and then deafening screams. The h/c hair that framed y/n's face was soaked with salted tears, and it stuck to her face like glue.

That was the day you had to leave the orphanage you and your sister both grew up in. You were only ten, your sister was five. It wasn't fair, you had to leave only because you showed high intelligence, whereas your sister didn't.

The other kids at the orphanage were the closest thing to family you and your sister had, and y/n had to leave all that behind. Y/n was livid, no child deserved this, and for what? Why her, she didn't understand.

The old man whom had dragged y/n away from her family opened the back door of an expensive limo, motioning for her to get in. Y/n stepped in and sat on the left side near the window. I hear it's a beautiful drive from here to England, she thought to herself trying to make the most out of this horrid situation.

And indeed it was, the drive was beautiful, y/n spent the whole car ride staring out the window in awe at the scenery. Soon her eyelids became heavy and she fell asleep, her head resting on her palm. A few hours must have passed when y/n felt the car pull into a driveway, she slowly opened her eyes and was met with a large almost mansion like building.

Flashback end:

Y/n quickly put on the shirt she grabbed confused about why she remembered that at this time. Shaking off her thoughts y/n made her way out the door and down the hall meeting back with the task force.

"I really need to focus today, my job is important, I need to take it more seriously," y/n grumbled to herself.
