Jily and Harry : Cost of Love

Chapter 17

Moonlight illuminated the lake brightly where the Slytherin's common room was as Severus walked out of the common area as he was about to sleep, but as he walked the hallway he recognized the door in his left he quickly walked the dimly lit hallway to Harry's temporary dorm room cautiously.

He opened the door slightly but quietly looked at the creaked door to see him sleeping soundly in the warm covers.

When he saw lily's son, he smiled slightly but quickly frowned at when he realized what he had done, he quickly scolded himself and looked at the boy again and told himself "He's still Potter's boy, even though he is Lily's it is still his," he closed the door quietly and walked to his dorm room.

He closed the door of his dorm room and de-robe himself to reveal his black pajamas with black slippers, he took off his slippers and took the covers and covers himself with them, but before he could sleep, he swore that he would make Harry suffer for his father's mistake of taking his Lily from him.

Morning came to Hogwarts as the elves got breakfast ready for the students in the castle kitchens as students slowly woke up, James and Lily were glad Harry's house visits were over as they anxiously waited for their son at the entrance.

A few minutes Harry came into sight as he was happy to see his parents again, Lily was ecstatic as she shed a couple of tears before Harry ran to her, James was of course happy that his son came back into his arms, but he was furious as the one who brought him was Severus the one who wants to kill his one and only future son other than Voldemort that he believed that Severus was Voldemort himself and his rival to Lily's heart.

Harry and Lily hugged for a good minute and went to the great hall leaving James alone with Severus for them to 'talk' with each other "Snivellus" James spat hatefully as he stared at Severus's eyes angrily "Potter" Severus spat copying James's actions "thank you for taking care of my son, if I mean taking care of him making him your slave" James said sarcastically as he folded his arms in his chest, "pleasures all mine he was quiet the help beating you, he has a gift maybe a few years he could join my house" Severus spat gleefully as he saw James fuming in irritation, he was about to enter the hall before he was stopped by James as he grabbed his collar and looked at him pissed "listen here Snape stay away from my son and Lily you already hurt her and I am not letting you my son too" James said to him threateningly as he was still holding Severus's collar "wouldn't dream of it" Severus spat as he escaped from James's grip and fixed himself and marched to the Slytherin table after looking at Lily who was conversing with her son.

After James little 'talk' with Severus he retreated to his table and bonded with his future son and wife, he smiled as Harry talked about his experience with the different houses while Lily smiled and commented about Harry's adventures with the houses, he stared at his son and pats his head which he noticed and smiled joyfully at him 'I promise you, Harry, I would protect that smile in all cost even though it means dying' he promised to himself quietly as his son returned to his breakfast as he did to minutes later.

After breakfast, James and Lily had to let Harry go again as class was now going to start, as Dumbledore collected him Harry tells Dumbledore about his experience with the houses which was helpful to him so he could discuss it with the teachers on who would be receiving their prize.

As the day was done Dumbledore called the teaching staff to discuss the results of his house visit as interpreted by Harry.

After much deliberation the teachers agreed on the winner, Dumbledore called Harry and walked with the rest of the teaching staff to the great hall.

The Great Hall was filled with laughter and joy, but when the whole teaching staff entered the hall, it became silent.

Harry ran to his parents' embrace after Dumbledore let him go.

Dumbledore walked to the owl podium and coughed for a bit to clear his throat "good evening everybody I commend everybody here for taking care of young Harry here which made me and the teaching staff proud to call you our students" Dumbledore paused for a bit as the hall was engulfed in applause and cheers before silencing them with his hand "but there can only be one house who could take the additional points, and please remember this was a fair deliberation as the teachers watched your performance for the past few days and checked all of your dorm rooms as well" the students were filled with anticipation at this point as they waited in suspense "the winner of the house visit is" Dumbledore started as the students leaned forward in suspense "Gryffindor!" Dumbledore announced joyfully, Gryffindor cheered for their small victory while everybody clapped but was satisfied at the experience.

Everybody stopped clapping as Dumbledore raised his hand to quiet them down "Congratulations Gryffindor's for your victory, for the houses that did not win the house visit will also receive points but not as the same as Gryffindor house, in addition to these points, you will all be exempted on this semester's exams with flying colors and one week off of your classes starting next week" Dumbledore announced which Gryffindor cheered loudly and thanked James and Lily for giving life to their savior.

After a minute of cheers, the feast began as everybody munched on their dinner in happiness.

Dinner had come to pass as everybody retired for the night; James carried his sleeping son on his back while Lily followed with their friends on her tail.

After bathing harry and changed him into his pajamas they tucked him to bed as they pulled the sheets and covered him mid-way, after Lily planted a good night's kiss in her future son's forehead she joined James in the doorway and met up with their friends except for peter on the common area, they were tackled with hugs as their friends thanked them for giving them the best godson they could ever have, Sirius went a bit dramatic as they called their son a god as he knelt to the ground groveling in James's feet which James and Lily laughed in amusement.

As James and Lily left the common room for their head duties Sirius, Remus, Marleen, and Alice quickly made their plan for Harry's birthday like decorations and gifts for him, and after 3 hours James and Lily came back and thanked their friends for babysitting for them while doing their head duties, they waved goodbye, James and Lily quickly gave each other a peck in the lips and said their goodnight's and got ready to sleep this time in their respective bedrooms.

The castle slowly dimmed as students and staff alike fell into a deep slumber but one which was the potion room as Severus was concocting a potion for the young boy, he quickly put the last ingredient in his cauldron which puffed a little as it revealed an orange sheen, he vialed the potion and raised it into the air and said: "I'm coming for you, Potter."
