Am I falling in love?

The next morning all of them returned back. Pete and avee had been avoiding each other since last night. But a phone call and situations turned further worse for Avee. The company had cancelled the webtoon production alleging that the story had been leaked online. Lee did not know how to tell Pete about it. Just then, Pete was heard shouting form his cabn.

"Avee. Ms. Avee" His voice echoed through the silent corridors of the company.

Avee rushed in.

"Why did you join our company?" He shouted.

"To work, sir."

"No. I don't think so. You sold the story to T.N entertainments who released it online. Do you have any idea about the implications the company has to face now? "

"But sir I didn't. why would I?"

"You are fired. Please leave my office." Pete was upset. He knew that Avee couldnot do such a mistake but the images from last night, watching her and Lee holding each other's hands, flashed before his eyes.

Avee packed up her belongings from hr desk. She didn't know her stint at her dream company would be so short. She looked at Pete, tears rolling from her eyes and left.

Lee walked in.

"Pete , I don't think its avee." Lee said.

"Then who could it be?" Pete shouted.

"We should find that out, don't you think? Alleging her without any proof isn't right pete," lee protested.

Watching Lee fight for Avee made Pete jealous. He thought he could give her up easily but it turned out to be more difficult than he anticipated.

Avee walked back home. She wondered why she was not even given an opportunity to speak. But more important than that was to find out how the rival company got hold of her story.

Pete and lee spent sleepless night. Their reasons being the same. Both were worried that avee was hurt. Pete knew well that if her name was not cleared she would not find any other job. Pete called up T.N enetertainments to know the name of the person who sold it. They refused to divulge the details.

Lee called pete up.

"I have found out who did it." Lee said. " It is Rico."

"But how did Rico find the document?" Pete was in shock on hearing Rico's name.

"Rico and Jenny are dating. Jenny had no clue about it. She just found out and she informed me. You need to issue a clarification."

Pete issued a clarification.

He was holding his phone, sitting and pondering whether to call her up and apologise. He never thought that Rico's hatred towards him would turn so ugly that he targeted his company and even the innocent girl. Pete felt guilty. He realised that he could only give Avee pain and suffering and nothing else. Yet he couldnot come to terms with the thought of letting her go.

He decided to drive to her home and apologise.

At 2 .30pm Pete called avee and asked her to come downstairs.

"Why?" Avee asked.

"I am waiting. Its important." He replied.

For the first time, avee saw pete dressed in his casuals. He still looked so handsome. For a moment avee couldnot take her eyes off him. But she got hold of her emotions, remembered the humiliation she had faced because of him and controlled her expressions.

He walked towards her.

"I am sorry." He said

"You should be." Avee angrily replied.

"You should have said that you were not guilty" Pete protested.

"Did you even give me an opportunity? You are always so rude. You don't even want to listen to anyone. You are stubborn just like a child. You think you can never be wrong."

Pete grabbed avee by her hand, pulled her towards him and kiseed her but avee pushed him away.

Pete was still gazing at her face. He had never seen someone like her.
He did not want to let her go. He wanted to pull her closer and kiss her passionately.

Avee left him and went back to her house.

She was sitting thinking why did pete kiss him.

"I am sure he just wants things his way. He doesn't like me. He humiliated me. He always does. May be this kiss was just another humiliation. But it didn't feel that way," avee thought.

Her phone rang.

"Hello lee"

"Hii. Sorry to call you so late. The misunderstanding has all been cleared. Just so you know, your termination has also been cancelled. Please come to office tomorrow."

"Alright." Answered Avee.

Avee went to sleep.

The next day during the lunch hours, lee came to her from Pete's lunch table

"I am really sorry I couldnot find out the truth sooner and you had to withstand all this humiliation."

"Its alright."

"No. its not. I want to compensate. Please come with me to Ganwed Park tonight. There is going to be a singing fest. I have already booked two tickets. Don't refuse. Please."

Pete heard all of it.

At 7pm lee picked up Avee from her home and they went to the singing fest. Lee was happy that she came with him. But avee's mind and soul remained with pete. While the night ended and lee was about to drop her off, he asked her

"Do you like someone?"

"No. absolutely not. why?" She asked.

"Haa haa. You grew defensive. I am just asking." Lee laughed.

Pete watched Lee and Avee from a distance as he sat in his car outside Avee's house. He had thought to confess his feelings to her but he drove away, even before Lee left.

Avee even asked herself the same question as she went to bed that night. Has she started falling for pete?
