Past and Present Comes Together

5 months back lee had proposed marriage to Avee. She had asked for some time to think about it, the answer of which remained pending till date. Lee left with a hopeful heart, expecting that Avee would miss him when he will be away and would finally accept his marriage proposal. He also wanted to rest his insecurities. He knew Avee hated Pete with all her heart but somewhere the fear that she could leave her again just like Retya, haunted him. Infact, it was this insecurity that made him sign the contract of the cafe even after knowing that Pete wàs also in the project. He wanted to see what Avee does, how she reacts on seeing him.

The party began and as all enjoyed the party, Avee stood alone in a corner all silent. She soon left from the party. Pete had been watching her for a long time. He followed her and finally mustered up all his courage and walked up to her.

"Its been a long time, since we saw each other?" Pete said.

Avee avoided Pete.

"So are you guys dating?" Pete asked.

She didn't answer.

As she walked away, Pete grabbed Avee by her hand

"Why aren't you ansering me? Dont act as if I have wronged you." Pete screamed.

"Pete, you have never given me an opportunity to speak my heart. Why does it matter now?" Avee shouted.

Avee's eyes were sparkling as Pete gazed into her face. Avee shook herself clear from Pete's grasp.

"You slept with lee, 6 months back, didn't you? And you are pretending as if I had wronged you!" Pete shouted.

"Did I sleep with you when you had let me stay at your home on that rainy night?" Questioned Avee.

"But lee said that he was to confess his feelings so I thought...."

Avee cut through his words, "you thought. You didn't even let me say anything pete."

Pete kissed avee passionately.

Avee pushed him back. "Pete, lee has asked me for marriage. He has waited all this time, he has supported me, he has been there by my side, dont jeopardize my life again."

Pete was heartbroken.

"Tonight, just a night, stay with me Avee."

Avee still loved pete. She wanted to be with him and in that moment she gave in to her emotions.

They kissed again, more passionately than ever and Pete then took her to his apartment.

He held her passionately kissing her while avee enjoyed the love Pete showered on her. From her forehead to her back, Pete didn't want to let go of her. They spent the night together.

Pete hadn't slept all night but had been watching avee sleep beside him, caressing her.

She woke up, smiling on seeing Pete watching her with love.

In a minute she realized what she had done.

She got up,got dressed and left for her home. "Lee will be coming back today," she thought.

"Avee, whats wrong? I will talk to Lee. You dont need to worry." Pete comforted her.

"Pete, please let me tell all of it to lee first. Let me handle it." Avee said.

Avee, Pete held her hand tightly. "Six months back I did a mistake by letting you go but please dont let go of me this time."

As Avee left, Pete wondered what would she do. He knew that Lee loved her and although he felt guilty, yet he knew well he could never let go off Avee.

Pete on his way to his office accidentaly met a girl. He remembered her well. "Retya!" He screamed.

Retya was working as a journalist in a local magazine. She looked the same, young vibrant energetic and full of enthusiasm girl he knew. She has married and has been doing well. Pete asked a favour from her. Retya knew well she could never refuse Pete. A year back, when Retya called Pete and asked for some money that she needed to repay to people she had borrowed, who were threatening her, it was Pete who helped. Retya undoubtedly had a rough 20's. Partying, shopping she wasted money diligently leaving her entangled in monetary loans. She could not ask for help from her husband as she didnot want him to know the kind of life she led before marriage. It was Pete who helped her even then.

"You dnt need to ask me for a favour. If I can do it, I will," Retya answered.
