Age 16

"Are you seriously going threw with this!" Nate yells, chasing after me down the hall.

"I'm not having this conversation with you" I groan, walking at a fast pace.

"It's suicide! Nobody has survived the trials yet!" He grabs my shoulder stopping me from walking further.

"I can't let Gwen do it alone" I protest.

"Clementine your going to kill yourself, don't you get that!" He yells, attracting attention from everyone in hall. He sighs speaking lower this time "I don't know what I'll do if I loose you."

"Nate, I have to do this" I step forward looking up to him.

"If you get yourself killed, I'm gonna kill you" He raps his arms around my waist hugging into me.

Standing, facing the door to the room, anxiety filling in me. "It's not too late to back out" Nate says behind me. I shake my head no turning around to him.

"How are you feeling?" He asks.

"Fine" I nod.

"Your a terrible liar" He laughs. I chuckle, punching his shoulder.

"Okay, ready!" Strucker yells.

"I'll be on the other side of the glass okay" He hugs me.

"Okay" I breath out.

"I love you" he quickly kisses me before jogging away. I stand there in shock, did he really just say he loved me?

I push away my panic, the door slides open and I walk in. The rooms kind of big with Loki's sceptre in the middle.

"State your name and status for the records please" Strucks assistant says over the speaker.

"Clementine Scout, Volunteer" I gulp.

"Okay Agent Scout just walk forward towards the sceptre" He tells me.

I take a deep breath walking towards the sceptre, I reach it. I can hear a sort of whisper coming from it. I reach my hand up touching the point of the sceptre.

My head is filled with screams and voices, loud enough that I think my ears could bleed. Next thing I know I'm being thrown into the electricity box behind me.

The door flies open and Stucker, his assistant, and Nate coming rushing in "Cam, Cam you okay?" Nate kneels you my side.

"Fuck me that hurt" I groan rubbing my head.

"That's my girl" Nate smiles "She's okay."

"You said it" I breath out sitting up straight.

"I know" He sighs "I'm sorry."

"I love you to" I say.

Nate's face widens a smile forming on his lips, he presses his lips to mine. I suddenly get a flash of him and me sitting with Paxton and Gwen laughing. I instantly pull away looking at Nate who's face is also covered in shock "What was that?"

Sitting on the bed with my legs in a basket, biting on the skin around my thumb getting lost in thought. "Cam" Nate says from behind me, reaching up to touch my shoulder but stops himself. "Do you maybe take Stray a walk with me?"
