Had Katniss just destroyed the arena? What would happen now? The Capitol was most probably taking all the survivors inside the arena captive. Katniss' act had obviously been rebellious and Johanna had cut Katniss' tracker out. Why? Had she known that something like this would happen? I only knew that Johanna was in danger, because she had helped Katniss, and Snow knew about Johanna's and my relationship meaning I might be in danger, too. It was the middle of the night and only my mum was still up, because she had not wanted to leave me alone in my current situation. "You have to hide somewhere", I realized. "Please! Take dad and (s/n) with you and hide somewhere! You aren't safe here!" "What are you talking about, (f/n)?", she replied dozily. "I'm not sure, but the Capitol might take me with them to pressure Jo", I assumed. "Then we won't leave you behind above all", she stated indignantly. "No! You don't understand! If they want to take me they'll take me anyway! If you oppose them they'll only kill you and take me then! Please protect the others! Tell them a lie to persuade them!" "You are my child, no matter how old you are. I don't care what the reason is. I won't let you down!" Frustrated, I grabbed my jacket. "Then I'll be the one leaving. Goodbye, mum." With those words, I left the house and hid quickly. If she did not know where I was, she could not follow me. A few minutes later I spotted a hovercraft above me. A dozen peacekeepers climbed down a ladder. They started entering houses and I heard my name. I stepped out of my hiding place and approached one of the peacekeepers. He recognized me immediately. Snow must have shown them a picture of me. I left without causing an uproar.

The peacekeepers had made one mistake, while leading me to my cell. They had not shackled me in any way. As soon as I heard Johanna's pain filled screams I forcefully freed my arm from the grip of a peacekeeper and ran toward her voice. Unfortunately, there was no chance for me to open the high tech door to her cell. So, I did the only thing I could. I hit the door, while calling out her name. Suddenly the door opened and I almost fell over. Johanna looked like she was about to pass out at any moment. The arena had taken a toll on her and now they had not wasted any time to start torturing her. Furthermore, they had shaved her hair off. "Hello, (f/n). We already impatiently awaited your arrival", one of Johanna's torturers declared with a sick smirk. There were two peacekeepers in the room. One was standing behind Johanna and was wearing his whole uniform, while the other was not wearing his helmet but the rest of the uniform. I struggled when an arm strangled me from behind. "Sorry. She didn't struggle to accompany us. So we didn't bother to tie her up or anything." "It's alright. You two can wait outside until I call you in." The duo obeyed and the door closed behind them. "So, let's get back to business", he announced. He soaked Johanna in water and shocked her with electricity causing her to scream in pain before passing out.She had not even been able to notice me in her state. Furiously I attacked the peacekeeper, but he beat me down instead. My hand had not been able to reach his head in time and the rest of his body was being protected by his uniform. He continued kicking me in the stomach a few times before calling the two peacekeepers outside. "Throw her to Cresta", he ordered and left the cell. I did not resist when they lifted me up and literally threw me into the cell next to Johanna's. Slowly I sat up noticing another woman inside the cell. Cresta ... Annie Cresta, Finnick's lover. "Hey, Annie. Let me guess. They captured you as bait for Finnick", I greeted her casually. I had to get the image of Johanna out of my head to stay sane. Physically Annie seemed to be alright. "Yeah. I guess you're (f/n)?" She was hugging her knees. "Right. (f/n) of district 7.Originally Johanna's secret fiancee. As you can see it didn't work out", I joked. Somehow I had the strange habit to joke around in bad situations. Annie's gaze became sympathetic. "Then you have it even worse than me. At least I know that Finnick is safe. Johanna told me. She is one of his only friends." I smiled sadly. "I'm sure Finnick is freaking out right now. It's obvious that he cares deeply for you." "Yes, he does." "How long are you already here?", I wondered. "I arrived shortly before you. I heard you yelling Johanna's name and talking to the Peacekeeper." "I just had to get to her. I've never heard her scream like that before. Though we didn't have a lot of time together, after all." I told Annie my story and she told me hers. The friendship between our partners and the fact that we were captives inside the same cell due to similar circumstances had immediately broken the ice between us. To top all of that Annie and I seemed to get along anyway. Maybe we could have become friends in another situation as well, if we had met. "Annie, do you mind if I come over? It's pretty cold here." "Feel free to." I sat down next to her immediately feeling her warmth. "Woah, you really are freezing", she exclaimed surprised. "Sorry. I'm always cold when I'm worried or scared. Just tell me if I should move back." She took my hands in hers. "It's alright." Maybe Annie was glad that she was not alone anymore. Suddenly Peeta's screams erupted making Annie shake and whisper to herself. I squeezed her hands and flashed her a smile. "Hey, Annie. Let's play a game to distract us! What would you be doing right now if the Capitol didn't exist?" She was clinging onto my hands. "I would be home with Finnick. We wouldn't be victors anymore. So, we would have to go to work. Maybe we could sell hand-made nets and ropes for the fisher. Finnick and I would already be married and live at a house near the sea. We could watch the sunset at the beach, just the two of us." She completely lost herself in this dream and even smiled, which made me smile too. "What about you, (f/n)?" Annie looked at me expectantly. I thought for a moment: "To be honest, I don't know. Johanna and I met because the Hunger Games exist. I ran into the forest because I was unsettled due to the upcoming reaping and Johanna was grieving about her family. Maybe we would have met anyway, but I can't be sure about that." I had never realized the fact that the Capitol had actually brought us together. How ironic. "Everything has its pro and cons", Annie realized. We talked about different, trivial things to distract us from the screams until our cell door opened. "(l/n). President Snow wants to see you", a Peacekeeper announced. "He could at least come down here to see me then, instead of making me walk the whole way", I joked to hide my nervousness. Johanna had definitely rubbed off on me. The peacekeepers had learned from their mistake and at least chained my hands together now. We passed so many corners that I lost my orientation. The peacekeeper knocked on the door and pushed me inside when he got Snow's answer. "Hello, dear. Sit down", Snow demanded softly with a provocative smile on his face. The peacekeeper stayed beside the door, while I made my way to the chair. I could not help but glare at the man in front of me. "Why so hostile? I just want to talk to you for a while", Snow declared. "Since when do you know? About Johanna and me", I asked bluntly. He started laughing. "Right from the beginning. If I remember correctly, it was about three years ago?" "How?" "You can't hide anything from me. You thought you could trick me if you canceled your meetings, but in reality I tricked you into thinking you had control. Two can play the game of keeping a secret. It was pretty entertaining to witness how your relationship developed. Now I'm actually content with my decision not to use your relationship against her yet. I can catch up now. Are you aware what Ms. Mason did?" I stayed silent. "She supported the rebellion. Because of her district 13 managed to get Katniss Everdeen before us." District 13? I could not process the whole situation. There were too many open questions. "So, you want to make Johanna pay for it?" "And get information out of her", he clarified. That made me laugh. Johanna was stubborn as hell. She would never betray the rebellion, no matter what they did to her. Of course, I would not openly say that. After all they were keeping her alive for information. And they were keeping me alive to pressure Johanna. "Nice to see that you are enjoying yourself. I wonder how long you will be able to remain that carefree demeanor." I was not carefree at all, rather the exact opposite. But I had been told a lot of times before that I seemed calm, though I was freaking out on the inside. "Are you finished?", I replied annoyed. Sitting in front of that man was making me furious. Snow looked at his watch. "I think they are not finished with Ms. Cresta yet", he stated provocatively. That made me lose it. I jumped out of my chair and punched Snow in the face, while gliding over his desk. Then I choked him with the chain between my hands. When the peacekeeper tried to pull me away from Snow I struggled with all my power and it took him a while to separate us. He removed the chains from my hands and dislocated my right shoulder making me scream out in pain. In the meantime, Snow was desperately trying to breathe. His throat was already beginning to change colors. Different people stormed into the room, while the peacekeeper dragged me out and back to my cell. "You're going to regret this", the peacekeeper threatened before shoving me into my cell. I did not think that I could regret attacking Snow. They would hurt me anyway. At least I had achieved something as well. When I looked around, I noticed that Annie was sitting in a corner, her eyes closed, knees at her chest and hands over her ears. What had they done to her? I created a provisional sling with my jacket to support my right shoulder. Then I carefully approached Annie. Touching her was out of question. She was not thinking clearly. "Annie?" She did not shift. "Finnick will get you out of here. I'll wait with you for his arrival. They won't hurt you as long as I'm with you. I promise." It was a promise I could not be sure to keep, but I would endeavor it. Slowly she opened her eyes and looked at me. I moved my hand to one of hers and gently pushed it down. The other followed. I hugged her the best I could with one arm until she calmed down. Her head rested on my left shoulder and she was squeezing my hand painfully hard, but I did not mind. "Thanks. What happened to your arm?" Her voice was so low that I had almost missed her words. A victorious grin crept onto my face: "My guard didn't like my actions." I rose my voice. So, everyone down here would be able to hear me: "I punched Snow right in the face. And then I choked him. Unfortunately not enough to kill him." "Nice one", Johanna praised me. I moved closer to the wall separating our cells. "Jo", was all I managed to say. "Damn Capitol! Fucking Snow! They got you too. Love is shit", her voice broke slightly. Annie laid her hand onto my shoulder in a soothing manner. "I'm fine", I assured both Johanna and Annie.
