Max's POV

My eyes stung as I opened them and looked up into the light above me. I squinted and hissed silently.

"Max, you're awake!" I heard Miss. Martian say excitedly.

I nodded and sat up, looking around the room, seeing the team, along with Red Arrow and Cheshire, who was surprisingly free.

"Surprised?" Said criminal asked.

I tilted my head and nodded, indeed confused.

"I'm a hero now. Apparently saving a bunch of short kids gets you on people's good and bad sides." She sighed.

"Mm." Red Arrow hummed, rolling his eyes.

"Well, we're glad you're awake." Robin said, smiling.

I was too, obviously, so I smiled back, throwing my legs over the side of the medical bed and standing up, albeit unsteadily, but it wasn't that bad.

Perhaps I have found something to care about and work for. These people, they had done so much for me, and I had given so little in return.

Perhaps it was time to stop being in the shadows.

So I went to my room and grabbed a notepad, before explaining to them how I felt.

Maybe I didn't have to be alone after all.
