We change to the setting of a house somewhere in an urban setting. The footage could easily be supplied via stock footage or by reusing the set of a house seen in either of the two series for the budget's sake. After the exterior, we view the inside. We see on the downstairs floor a man by the name of Sanders, a strong-minded and dedicated father and husband, at an orange desk on the telephone. In the background, there is a presentation of the usual accessories of a lounge; tables, television, radio, plants, desks, and also a number of suitcases beside one of the sofas. A nervous woman named Ellie holding her young baby Luccia. The father continues on the phone to his brother, Mickeal – and a very similar character he is to his brother. In the background to him is his wife Val and their son Alife. The setting behind them can be easily redressed from older episodes to look slightly different. We see different alternating shots of the flats as the men on the phone talk.

Sanders:

And I'm telling you, brother, we're going on that Highway! Threat or no threat!

Mickeal:

Look, you know what these Mysterons are like. They can strike anywhere and anywhen.

Sanders:

Now see here Mickeal, my wife and I think we deserve a nice holiday away to the south coast. I have paid very expensive tickets to use this new Orbital Highway, and that's final!

Mickeal:

But what happens if they strike at the foundations of the bridge?

Sanders:

Look here dear brother, that bridge is a monumental masterpiece of engineering. Every nut and bolt has been scrupulously checked to ensure that nothing can go wrong. Mark my words, nothing will happen to us when we're travelling. Goodbye!

He slams the phone down.

Mickeal:

Hello? Hello? Sanders? Sanders! He won't listen to me! He just won't listen!

Val:

You've got to keep trying, honey. That motorway isn't safe to travel upon because of those evil Mysterons! Why haven't they already done something to shut the bridge?

Mickeal:

It's these stupid people in charge running it, Val. Why did it have to be Hull they had to open from? Why not... London. I've got to stop my brother, at all costs.

Alfie:

It's still just the adverts for the moment, dad. It's not going to be opened just yet.

We change back to the other family's home.

Ellie:

It's still just adverts on for the moment, dear.

Sanders has pulled out the cords of the telephone, meaning he won't be disturbed by any more phone calls.

Sanders:

Good. That means we can still get there when it opens. You know, it was fortunate that the headquarters of the Eastern sector of the Highway was based up in Hull. It was the first spur road that was completed that linked to the main road. And because of that, we are lucky enough to be one of the first few who gets to ride on it.

Ellie:

And little Luccia will be the youngest to travel on it at one-month-old.

We see the sleeping baby, all wrapped up in its mother's arms.

Sanders:

Well, no time like the present. Come on. Let's get our bags in the car. Portsmouth, here we come!

We now see the black saloon car heading off from the house, reaching the end of the road, then turning left...
