We are looking at Cloudbase again. After watching from an exterior shot of the Command deck, we swap to see inside where the Spectrum officers, Angels and members of International Rescue aboard Cloudbase remain.

Alan:

We can't just sit around here and wait for the Mysterons to make their move. Surely we could prepare some form of defence when they show their hand.

Captain Scarlet:

He has a point, sir. The Mysterons will strike again in the same area.

Alan:

Brains, you were telling me earlier that you don't think that the fans could do any damage or any serious harm.

Brains:

Well... there is little I see that could go wrong w-with them. All I said was the w-worst that could happen is they could malfunction and blow up.

Virgil:

And would that cause any environmental damage or start a typhoon?

Brains:

Perhaps. With the scale and size of one of them toppling i-into the sea, that could be a poss-ssibility.

Penelope:

Well, I'm sure that the borders are being well-guarded to ensure nobody is being let onto the Highway.

Virgil:

Well then what are we waiting for?

Colonel White:

Now, hold on a minute International Rescue, the Mysterons act as cunning and as slyly as a fox. We have no idea what we might have to handle at the scene of the Mysteron threat.

Virgil:

But we need to get out there and stop the Mysterons before more people are killed.

Lieutenant Green:

International Rescue, your job is to save lives when other means of rescue services are inadequate. You will be called upon when the situation requires it. Meanwhile, Spectrum will handle the Mysteron activity.

Colonel White:

Quite right, Lieutenant. Spectrum aren't here to provide a rescue outfit; we were formed by the World Government under the supervision of the World President himself to help improve global security and efficiency.

Captain Ochre:

It was only because of the tragedy of the Zero X and the Mysteron encounter that meant that Spectrum are to become more readily equipped and involved with the affairs of the world.

Captain Magenta:

And International Rescue's duty is to save lives and help people. Our duties are linked to that of the function of government.

Colonel White:

International Rescue may be out rescuing and improve lives, but the aim of government and its many functions and duties is not to provide a better life. But it is to maintain order, keep the wheels of society and industry afloat. We all have our own separate duties we must perform and fulfil to keep our world safe.

Virgil:

I guess so. How about if Spectrum were to prevent and tackle this? You usually try to prevent Mysteron activity.

Colonel White:

Then indeed we shall. Rhapsody and Symphony Angel, you will stand by in the Amber Room for takeoff to the danger zone. The three Angels will fly overhead to patrol the highway from above.

Rhapsody/Symphony:

S.I.G.

Colonel White:

Captains Scarlet, Blue and Ochre you will fly in the Spectrum Passenger Jet and operate on the ground.

Captain Blue/Ochre:

Yes sir.

Captain Scarlet:

S.I.G. Colonel White.

Colonel White:

Captain Magenta will fly in a Spectrum Helicopter and patrol alongside with the Angels. And Captain Grey will take the Magnacopter and transport Lady Penelope and Parker in FAB 1 in the storage holder.

Brains:

The m-men aboard the fans n-need to e-evacuate. All m-maintenance and o-observations can be surveyed from our satellite.

Lieutenant Green:

I'll get onto it immediately, Colonel.

Scott:

I'll put John in the picture.

We see the stock footage of the Earth to the bottom left of the screen before we zoom up to reveal Thunderbird 5 in space. Now in the interior, we see John sat at the life support systems control console watching the screen. For the moment, we see Scott on it, who is contacting John through his watch.

John:

Thunderbird 5 to Thunderbird 1, I'll maintain a scan of the spur road leading onto the main carriageway.

Scott:

F.A.B. John. It will be up to you from there. The men are going to be evacuated from their stations and all observations will be up to you now. Spectrum will be on the ground monitoring the situation and detecting any Mysteron activity.

John:

Ok Scott. It's the least we could do for those poor people that were killed. I'm sure their family are in a bad state, poor fellas.
