Chapter two

It was a couple months into Y/n's stay with Karl and quite frankly they had grown quite close. For the sake of both of their sanities Y/n was able to get the baby out of there before anything bad happened to him. Carefully Y/n made her way into the factory where she knew Karl spent most of his time tinkering adding on to his factory. She walked behind him and gently covered his eyes with her well manicured hands. "Guess who" she cooed softly and he couldn't help but laugh at the girl's playfulness.

"Hmmm let's see... would it possibly be Y/n.... No it couldn't be because I told her to stay inside because this place is dangerous" he scolded lightly taking her hands and turning around. She pouted slightly before pulling up a chair and sitting next to him. Sighing softly Karl turned back to his work as he knew there was no getting rid of her and he handed her a project she had been working on since she started hanging out in the factory with him. She gently took a tool from across the table and began working and he couldn't help but look at her and admire the work she was doing.

She looked at the other and smiled warmly. He gently placed his hand against the girl's head lightly ruffling her hair. "You've gotten really good at this tinkering stuff you know" he spoke softly and she couldn't help but smile to herself. "I enjoy making things, I like using my hands really it doesn't matter what I'm doing I want to do my best work" she spoke softly and held up her latest invention. "Come on now Doctor Frankenstein" Karl teased her and she laughed softly. "Oh come on now you're the actual doctor Frankenstein here I'm just helping create the parts" she spoke softly and gently held her invention. The item began to glow as she matched the wires just right and the metal heart was red. It looked real as real as a metal heart could.

"I did it! I told you I could" she called happily and Karl laughed happily with her as she put the item down looking at it. "Do you think it'll work for your machines?" She asked quietly and he nodded his head. The factory had grown a vast amount but Karl never told you how he did it. "Yes come on I'll show you" he spoke and gently took her hand and she held the invention in her arms. He took her to another area through large piles of metal before into a room where a corpse lay with machine parts in its body. He gently took the heart from her and put it in place with the other items the two had created and the corpse sprung to life and Y/n hid behind Karl and he laughed softly.

"Did we just..." she asked and he nodded. "He's alive aren't you?" He asked softly and the corpse didn't say anything or more rather than sitting up. Karl sighed softly and grabbed the heart undoing it from the rest. "It seems he was a bit too far gone Y/n maybe next time " he stated and she sighed in disappointment. She gently placed her hand against the Half human half Machine and laid it back down. "Darling you can tell me you're upset because of one mistake" he spoke softly and she looked at him with a sad expression. "How can you not be... we're so close to helping these people... who died too soon... soon enough we'd be able to narrow it down to just a heart to bring them back..." she whispered and he gently wrapped his arms around her pulling her into a hug seeing how upset she actually was over it.

She sniffled just a little before Karl gently cupped her face. "Hey just think how we saved little Ethan.... He's going to live a full life and have children... think about the life you saved here" he spoke softly and she began to cry holding his hands which were against her face. "I miss Ethan... my sweet Ethan he didn't cry or misbehave... Is it wrong for me to have wanted to keep him?" She asked and he shook his head pulling her back in and holding her until she felt better. "It's okay... I'm here I will always be here for you my dear Y/n" he whispered and she leaned against him. Not wanting to be in the room any longer he gently picked her up her head resting gently against his shoulder. He walked her back to their little tinkering room and sat with the woman in his arms where she held onto him lightly. There was nothing official stating they were anything more than friends but the way he held and looked at her said other wise.

She closed her eyes and gently held onto the white shirt he had on. He gently placed her in his lap where his arms supported her but his hands went back to work on the metal from before. Every once in while he'd look down at the sleeping girl's face and kissed her forehead. He was careful with her almost afraid he'd break her but after a while of tinkering he put the tools away and gently moved the hair from her face. "My sweet Y/n I don't know what I'd do if they got to you... I don't want to lose you... you're the only thing keeping me sane" he whispered and admired her sleeping features. He stood holding her up and walking back to the house. Clearly someone had seen the two of them because it wasn't long before Mother Miranda was calling Karl Heisenberg.

"Oh Heisenberg... am I hearing things properly you have a girl with you..." the woman on the other side of the land line asked and Karl hesitated for a moment knowing the girl was sleeping in his room. "For an experiment Mother Miranda nothing more... I want to see if she'll be your host for Eva I need one of your parasites" he spoke softly. The woman on the other side of the phone seemed pleased. "I take it it's the girl Alcina was speaking of? The girl with the pretty (e/c) eyes and (h/c) hair?" She asked and he cleared his throat. "I'm sorry Mother Miranda... the calls breaking up I'll stop by tomorrow to pick up some Cadou..." Karl spoke before hanging up the call. He rubbed his temple before walking to his room and laying next to the girl.

"I'm afraid Y/n of the trouble I've caused for the both of us..." he spoke and she turned gently wrapping her arms around him. "Shh it's alright we'll get through this together" she muttered tiredly. He gently kissed her forehead causing her cheeks to go pink. Karl gently grabbed her face and looked her in the eyes. "Y/n for whatever happens in the future I'm so sorry " he spoke quietly and gently rested their foreheads together. "What did you do... why are you acting like this..." she asked softly gently running her fingers against his slight stubble. "They know about you... and I said you were an experiment... with these experiments Mother Miranda has us use this parasite... I have to implant you with it" he spoke quietly.

"No.... You're not going to do this to me I... I'm already... different what if it kills me!" Y/n snapped looking at him surprised. "I'm so sorry Y/n but do we have a choice?"
